Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awsome!!! This was a great book. I was enthralled by it as soon as I read the description. This book brought me into the world of Laurell K. Hamilton and some of the other authors that were involved in this particular piece of writing. I always liked the paranormal stuff, but this has went beyond the normal vampire/werewolf stuff and into a new world. I love it and I have started to read anything paranormal that I can find.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cravings The title of this collection, “Cravings”, immediately implies a satisfied reading of stories to tickle that special place deep inside every woman, or man for that matter. The list of talented authors on the cover also lets the reader know that the supernatural will be involved, and in a very erotic way. Well, all I have to say is that the writers succeeded in achieving their goals, and extremely well at that! The first story, Blood Upon My Lips by Laurell K. Hamilton, is a between novels tale of several characters of her Anita Blake series. If you are a reader of this series, make sure you read this short piece before picking up her new novel in October. I’m not sure if it will be included in the upcoming release, Incubus Dreams, but if it’s not, it’s pertinent to the story line that you read this first! It involves several of the major characters, and a very major event. I don’t want to give anything at all away to her faithful readers. Just take my word for it and read it. As usual for Hamilton, the story is very well written using great descriptions that takes my mind away from where I am and into her world. Her characters come alive and I can believe they are people I would know in the real world, if the real world included vampires and shape shifters. The second story, Dead Girls Don’t Dance by MaryJanice Davidson, was both amusing and erotic at the same time. Although a good read and quite enjoyable, I personally felt it wasn’t up to the same literary and entertaining standards set by the other three stories in this collection. I’m sure if I had read this story on it’s own I would have enjoyed it much more, but the style of Davidson’s writing and storytelling was not up to par with the others. I found her characters harder to relate to, and overall not quite believable enough for me. I couldn’t submerge myself in her world and was left wanting at the end. Originally Human by Eileen Wilks, the third story in the collection, gave the reader a change of pace. Just as I was beginning to think the whole group would center around vampires, Wilks throws in a succubus, realm jumping and some magic. Eileen’s storytelling wove a world as believable as Hamilton’s, where not everyone is a mere mortal, and even the abnormal ones can find love. Wilks creates realistic characters that have the reader cheering for them to have that happy ending that all of us dream of having. Interesting and creative ideas created a unique story that kept me reading. Wilks has a great grasp on the supernatural and storytelling, and I hope she writes more like this. The fourth and final story, Burning Moon by Rebecca York, involves a werewolf, a murdered wife, a blind psychic, and revenge. This fresh new look at the life of a werewolf had me intrigued from the beginning. It’s always refreshing to see an author take an idea that’s been around for many years, and renew it by just changing it up a little. I think York does this well. Rebecca is another writer who knows how to create realistic characters living in a realistic world, and pull the reader into that world. The ending happened a little too quickly for me, and I felt the characters needed more time to develop into roles they ended in. They might have been pushed a little too hard and fast, but in the end it was still enjoyable, and mostly believable. Overall the collection was a great success. My only major issue is that I personally would not have placed MaryJanice’s story in with the other three. It would have worked better in a more humorous collection than amongst the more serious tone of Hamilton’s, Wilks’s, and York’s.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from LHK Short stories I never see the point of purchasing short stories from Hamilton. All the short stories she has written in the past is the FIRST chapter in her Anita book ~!!!!! So... if you are only buying this as a preview that's great. Beside, on her offical site, they do provide a chapter preview. Hence, it is unecessary to purchase this particular book. Unless you're a collector. The chapter was written well but is cut of..... heh I wonder why (to make you buy the upcoming book which I did to my disappoinment). If you don't beleive me... compare the short story with Incubus chapter one which overlaps into chapter 2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must read anthology from four great authors This book was absolutely amazing, and I would recommmend it to anyone looking for a good mix of Humor, erotica, mystery and to just escape reality. This anthology with another excerpt from Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series is a definite page turner, and makes you want to never put it down. Definitely check out this great read, and enjoy four great authors' erotic tales of other realms and vampires.
