Rated 3 out of 5 by from My son loved it! My 8 year old son read this book to his 5 year old brother and myself and they couldn't have enjoyed it more! I on the other hand wasn't a big fan of Greg's behaviour but, I guess kids wouldn't enjoy it as much if Greg didn't get into trouble. I just don't like how Greg acts without concern for friends, family or consequence, but I guess thats the point. If you want a book that your kids will enjoy I would highly recommend this serries. We started with this book and we are moving backwards and we weren't missing any information from any of the previous books so we really like that we can pick and choose whichever book we want to read instead of having to stick to the order they were made.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hmmm Ok, this is an adults perspective. I have noticed kids like this book, my son read it over and over obsessionally. He is 7. At first I was happy, that he was enjoying the book so much until I read it myself. Wow, so so depressing. We talked about the characters and how they act, it really seemed like the intended irony was going over his head. I do not recommend this book for younger kids. This book is not meant to be taken literally without an understanding that this is meant to be tongue and cheek. I found this book bleak and I have no desire to read any more. It was almost more scary than Lord of the Flies, seriously. I get to see raw human interaction on a daily basis, don't need to read about it. And I went through the whole bullying thing with me and my son. FYI it has NOTHING to do with being wimpy, which kind of suckered me into thinking this book had a different slant. If you thought this book might be about overcoming weaknesses, or personal growth, or learning from experience, um nope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just as funny The fourth book in the Wimpy Kid series is just as funny and entertaining as the first three. Fans will love Greg's crazy ideas and antics during his summer vacation. Sleeping all day and playing video games all night are the perfect way to spend the summer, until Greg discovers the Country Club lifestyle. Drinking slushies by the pool with your best friend is an even better way to spend the summer. But it comes at a price. How will Greg and Rowley afford to continue this new lavish lifestyle and will their friendship survive?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was good, but it was missing something Over all I liked it, and thought that 3 stars is fair. The first three books made me laugh out loud, and they still do. However, Dog Days seems to be missing something. Maybe it's because this book deals with Greg and his summer vacation and the others dealt with school. I don't know, just something was missing. Don't get me wrong, this book made me chuckle at parts, but I didn't laugh out loud. This book deals with Greg and his summer vacation. Over the vacation he deals with his family, birthdays, friends and trying to find a summer job to pay off a bill. In this book, Greg seemed to whine a lot. Over all, it wasn't bad, just not as funny as the first three.
