Stephanie Plum is thinking her career as a fugitive apprehension agent has run its course. She’s been shot at, spat at, cussed at, fire-bombed, mooned, and attacked by dogs. Time for a change, Stephanie thinks. Time to find the kind of job her mother can tell her friends about without making the sign of the cross.

So Stephanie Plum quits. Resigns. No looking back. No changing her mind. She wants something safe and normal. As it turns out, jobs that are safe and normal for most people aren’t necessarily safe and normal for Stephanie Plum. Trouble follows her, and the kind of trouble she had at the bail bonds office can’t compare to the kind of trouble she finds herself facing now. Her past has come back to haunt her. She’s stalked by a maniac returned from the grave for the sole purpose of putting her into a burial plot of her own. He’s killed before, and he’ll kill again if given the chance. Caught between staying far away from the bounty hunter business and staying alive, Stephanie reexamines her life and the possibility that being a bounty hunter is the solution rather than the problem. After disturbingly brief careers at the button factory, Kan Klean Dry Cleaners, and Cluck-in-a-Bucket, Stephanie takes an office position in security, working for Ranger, the sexiest, baddest bounty hunter and businessman on two continents. It might not be the job she’ll keep for the rest of her life, but for now it gives her the technical access she needs to find her stalker. Tempers and temperatures rise as competition ratchets up between the two men in her life---her on-again, off-again boyfriend, tough Trenton cop Joe Morelli, and her bad-ass boss, Ranger. Can Stephanie Plum take the heat? Can you?

Between the adventure and the adversity there’s attitude, and Stephanie Plum’s got plenty in her newest misadventure, Eleven on Top.

Reviews

Rated out of 5 by from Definitely enjoyed this series. Have read all 18 books twice & a couple of them 3 times just for something to read. Looking forward to 19 coming out in November.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best This is gripping and entertaining from page one. Funny moments and terrifying ones at the same time. The ending had me gasping when just before I'd been laughing out loud. Fabulous stuff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was good. Lots of Ranger in this one. Oh yeah! Stephanie has had it with being a bounty hunter. She quits working for Vinnie, and tries working a nice normal job. She bombs at them all. Finally, she settles on working for Ranger. Ah, such a hard ship that is. Not! Joe (who Steph is on again with) isn't too keen on Steph working for Ranger, but he deals with it. He knows that he can't tell Stephanie what to do. Every time he tires, she just breaks up with him. Ranger puts Steph to work doing background checks on people. She gets to sit in front of a computer all day. Boring, yet interesting because Ranger has some kick ass search engines that can dig way deep into any ones background. Even though Stephanie is no longer hunting fugitives, she is still getting into trouble. Someone from the past is stalking her and she uses Rangers computer to try and find out more about her stalker. Grandma Bella is back to harassing Stephanie about living in sin with Joe. My favourite moment in the book is when Grandma Mazur and Bella get into a fight at a funeral. Since Ranger took center stage throughout most of the book I was expecting there to be lots of sexual tension, but I felt very little of it. Also, There was not as much Lula as I would have liked. I'm giving Eleven on top a C+ because I like Stephanie as a bounty hunter, and even though she is spending lots of time with Ranger, there is not enough kissy face going on. Yah, yah she is with Morelli right now. I still like Ranger better :P This was an audio version narrated by Lorelei King. I'm new to audio books, but I liked listening to her. Her Ranger voice wasn't at all what I pictured Ranger sounding like, but she got Lula, Grandma Mazur and Joe spot on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the Plums Evanovich's best in the Stephanie Plum novels. Stephanie is tired of being a bounty hunter and tries other jobs. But in true Plum fashion is a disaster or causes one at everything she tries. Then there is an annoying person, from her past, trying to kill her. What's a girl to do? Go work for her mentor the handsome, mysterious, ever hot and bounty hunter extraordinare Ranger. And end up staying at his condo too. Her sometime boyfriend equally handsome, Joe the cop isn't impressed. As usual laugh out loud funny mystery, with some sexual tension on top. Throughly enjoyable read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Author!! I have yet to come across one of Janet Evanovich's books that I do not end up laughing out loud, especially when it comes to the grandmother. Stephanie Plum is a character that you fall in love with because of her quirkiness, and can't help but finish the book to find out how many cars of hers will be blown up!! And of course you want to figure out how it goes between Ranger and Joe, who will she choose? If you love to laugh and enjoy a great read, this book or any Janet Evanovich's books are the ones for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved It! I've read all the books so far, and 10 and 11 have to be my favourites. Janet's books are a really easy, fun read and you don't have to go in order. I started reading book 8 and then when to 4 and then just got my hands on all of the and read away. I would totally suggest reading these books you'll find yourself totally rooting for Stephanie and laughing at Grandma and Lula and Joe and Ranger are sooo yummy. A warning though if you are reading in public you will laugh out loud so be prepared to have people stare at you like your crazy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Janet Evanovich Strikes Again! Stephanie Plum is back, and her dysfunctional family is nuttier than ever! Quitting her job doesn't seem to change her life, as Lulu takes over for her, and wants her to drive shotgun. As for her new jobs, just think what Stephanie can do to cars! Joe still loves her, Ranger still wants her, and Stephanie isn't sure whether lust or love is best. Valerie's wedding just increases her stress....not to mention what it does to her mother. The tension as she tries to solve her latest case just increases, as she tries to find out what is happening....before it happens to her! The laughs are never-ending as usual, and Janet Evanovich doesn't disappoint. Stephanie Plum's adventures always leave you wanting more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from hilarious I loved this novel. I read it on an airplane in six hours. Evanovich in my opinion does not disappoint with this funny tale of Stephanie Plum. The scenes with Ranger are terrific, steamy and funny at the same time. Stephanie decides she wants a career change but as usual things do not go her way, or so the reader thinks. I was left wondering if Steph would end up with Ranger and hoping it happens. Although Ranger does explain his intentions to her. I loved this book, as I loved all of the Plum novels...a must read for Plum fans.

About the Author

Janet Evanovich is the author of the Stephanie Plum books, including One for the Money and Sizzling Sixteen, and the Diesel & Tucker series, including Wicked Appetite. Janet studied painting at Douglass College, but that art form never quite fit, and she soon moved on to writing stories. She didn’t have instant success: she collected a big box of rejection letters. As she puts it, “When the box was full I burned the whole damn thing, crammed myself into pantyhose and went to work for a temp agency.” But after a few months of secretarial work, she managed to sell her first novel for $2,000. She immediately quit her job and started working full-time as a writer. After 12 romance novels, she switched to mystery, and created Stephanie Plum. The rest is history. Janet’s favorite exercise is shopping, and her drug of choice is Cheeze Doodles. She and her husband live in New Hampshire, in house with a view of the Connecticut River Valley.
