Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty mundane The beginning was super slow. Girl moves to a new place and country, and has no friends. Only to realize she is part of a world she doesn’t understand. The first hundred pages or so bored me tears, that I had to stop and read another book. When I came back to reading it again, I finally realized why Alyson Noel is a best selling author. She writes well for a YA author. I haven’t read any of the Immortals books so I did have a high expectation when picking this up. I always love a good romance between the main character and the good boy, and Dace is no exception. He’s extremely likable and pure at heart to boot! (Although he has long hair..*makes face* Why are guys with long hair considered attractive?? Seriously chop the hair off, and leave the long hair to the females. Sorry Fabio..) At least Daire has good taste, and steers clear of his evil brother.Dare I say that Daire is also your typical teenage girl and she annoyed the hell out of me? Some of her thoughts are very mundane and I didn’t care much for her. Sorry to say. I wished there was more action. I can honestly say if I don’t find any action or plot in a book, I will not finish it. I was close to not finishing this, but I did, and was glad once it picked up! If you’re a fan of gooey love stories with a paranormal twist, pick this one up! If you’re not, well it’s best to just borrow this book from the library.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm very happy that I've read the series. I got this and the sequel Echo on my birthday as a gift from my best friend. Honestly speaking the story was a little slow at first. i didn't know why but i didn't let that stop me from reading on. But i have to say that the more i read on and the closer i got to the ending, i started to get really excited. Thank goodness I had the second book already so all i had to do was run, grab it from my bookshelf, and start reading the next one. I loved it it! I loved the characters and the plot and it was something (a bit) different to the type of books that i'd been reading all this time. I've read Mystic and Horizon, the last two books in the series, and I'm so happy that my best friend gifted me the first two books in the series. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have read such an amazing series! ITS BREATHTAKING!!! Just simply AMAZING!!! I've never read any of Alyson Noel's books yet, but I want to say that the Soul Seekers Series is my FAVOURITE, along with the Dustlands trilogy of course. I'd say give it a shot if you want to read something different, interesting, and magical, because MAGICAL is the best word that suits the series.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from book okay i guess.. It took me a while to get into the story because at first it's not really intresting but at the end it's kind of good.. I guess it depends on the kind of books you like but I still bought the next book but I haven't finish it after 2 months because it's boring...I liked it but it could have been better

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unique Fated was really unique and I loved how the author set out her ideas. But I loved the ideas and the plot. The plot was different from anything I'd ever read. It was a whole new look on the 'Good Twin, Bad Twin' thing. I loved the magic the book gave off and the settings were amazing too. The characters were also well described. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than the Immortals I read the immortals and instantly fell in love with the first book. but as it progressed, it sorta got really boring and predictable and there was just too much going on with the plot twists and the drama... OH THE DRAMA. i mean i like love story's as much as any other, but Noel was really laying it on thick. Anyways i only read up to fourth book but bought the last one just to complete the set. So then i decided to give her a second chance with FATED. and so far I Love what I'm seeing. I absolutely enjoy the thought of romance and powers and i good old fashioned bad guy. I really liked her style of writing and this book is no different. You fall in love with the main character through the entire book and root her on as she develops. I was much more happy with this book then the immortals. I would totally recommend this book to any one who liked the idea of the Immortals but wanted something different. :) hopefully my Review wasn't to long. lol

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's the same book.... I started The Immortals series absolutely loving it, then the following books turned out to be little more than copies of the first book, I eventually had to give up after the forth book. Fated, to me (and the 3 people I was talking to who also read The Immortals and Fated) found that Fated is the same plot with a different magical power, character names, and setting. The characters even act the same. Once again our main character lives with a loving relative but not her parents, what do you have against parents Ms. Noel? If you enjoyed the Immortals series, all six or however many books its up to, you will love Fated and I highly recommend it. If you haven't read anything by Alyson Noel, you should read one, the first time it's pretty good. If the Immortal series annoyed you, you not going to like this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Alright, I guess Lets start with the cover, it is BEAUTIFUL! Call me superficial, but that is mostly why I wanted to read it. BUT... the book was slightly disappointing. I expected it to be better considering how many people were excited to read it. The blurb was interesting enough and the storyline was good, but the writng style was not for me. The book was slow and took forever to actually get to the point. I felt as if I were waiting for something the the whole time I was reading. The main character, Daire, was very realistic and it was easy to relate to her. She was really outgoing but shy at the same time. I got tired of reading from her point of view though. She would do the opposite of what the readers would want her to do and started to get irritating. The book was good but honestly, the writing style was just not my cup of tea and I found it slightly repetetive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Is it destiny??? Wow..... I honestly really liked the book. The beginning is a little creepy and there are some parts that made me want to puke a little but it was seriously (overall) a pretty awesome book. In my opinion I think I liked it a little better than Noel's previous series (The Immortals). I swear it all just kept me yearning for more and even now I am just anticipating for the next book in the series to come out (though it may take a while)! If you liked any of Noel's previous books (especially The Immortals series) then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book to you. It was creeepy and romantic all in one and I thought it was amazing! :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fated (Soul Seekers #1) by Alyson Noel New York Times Bestselling author of the Immortals series, Alyson Noel creates a beautiful and diverse world of the Soul Seekers. Fated, the first book in this new young-adult fantasy series, tells the story of a girl who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead. Daire Santos has been experiencing strange things recently. She has visions of glowing people and animals that follow her. Concerned for her mental health, Daire’s mother packs her bags and sends her daughter off to the remote town of Enchantment, New Mexico. Daire will be staying with a grandmother who she never met, and claims that she has the solution to Daire’s condition. During her stay, Daire meets Dace, a stunning young man with breath-taking blue eyes who Daire is certain that she has met before…in her dreams. However, Daire’s stay will not all be fun and games. Her grandmother, Paloma, straightaway begins to teach her how to harness her spiritual powers of being a Soul Seeker, a person who can travel between the worlds of the living and the dead. Paloma and Daire must work quickly and efficiently at getting her to master her powers. If not, insanity will begin to take over and corrupt Daire’s mind, and will give Dace’s shape-shifting brother an easy opportunity to steal her powers. Danger is in the air and Daire must welcome her destiny of being a Soul Seekers with open arms. Will Dace be the one for Daire or the one to destroy her forever? Reading this novel was a challenge in the beginning as the book took up more of a spiritual edge and understanding their ways of culture was difficult. Moving through the book was easier said than done but Ms. Noel did finally capture my attention before I hit the middle of the book. The vivid descriptions and plot line was ingenious and I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, Fated was an enjoyable book and a satisfying read. Be sure to check out Echo, the next book in the Soul Seekers series which hits bookstores November 13, 2012.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Novel! This book was really good and hard to put down! I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because at times, there were parts where the writing was slow and boring, but it would quickly pick up and regain its excitement. Daire is a strong and incredibly independent character, one who is able to connect with the reader almost instantly. Overall, it was a beautiful and unique story, and I will definitely be reading the following books in the series when they are released! :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Stand out Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. I really enjoyed the first 3 books in the Immortals series by Alyson Noel but then the series fizzled for me. Fated, however is a true stand-out. Raised in a transient style of life by her Mom; Daire has moved from place to place, lived without roots, without a sense of family. When unusual things begin to happen and Daire has a break down, her mother sends her to live with her spiritual grandmother. There she begins to uncover who she is and what she is destined to do. The first book in a planned series, the character of Daire is charismatic from the opening pages and I was drawn in to her story. Her struggle, aside from the typical teenage life drama is to learn and embrace her culture and begin her life as a soul seeker-one who must overcome the growing evil in the town. One of my favourite elements of the story was the inclusion of Native American Shamanism, mystics and Animal Spirit Guides. I loved the time where Daire was experiencing that part of her life. It was fascinating perhaps because it's always been something that has interested me a little, but now I'm researching and finding other books to read about it as well. I have to say that any book that inspires me to explore, to research , is something special. I can't share my thoughts about Fated without talking about Dace. Le sigh... He is a perfect balance of calm to Daire's frenetic energy. Ultimate book boyfriend material. I can't wait to see how things progress or if they do in book two. Can not wait for more of this series. Fated is a page turner. The story settles deep down inside as you read, and you just want more. Highly Recommended. For more reviews check out: www.lostinthelibrary.com

About the Book

The first book in a magnificent new series about a girl who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead by the #1 "New York Times"-bestselling author of "The Immortals."

Read from the Book

There are moments in life when everything pauses. The earth hesitates, the atmosphere stills, and time shrinks and folds onto itself until it collapses into a big tired heap. As I push through the small wooden door of the riad where Jennika and I have camped out the past several weeks, trading the hush of the rose-and-honeysuckle-scented courtyard for the chaos of the serpentine maze of medina--it happens again. But instead of mimicking the stillness like I usually do, I decide to go with it and try something fun. Easing my way along connecting salmon-colored walls, I pass a small, thin man caught in midstride, press my fingers against the soft white cotton of his gandora, and gently spin him around until he''s facing the opposite way. Then after ducking beneath a mangy black cat that, caught in midleap, appears to be flying, I stop at the corner where I take a moment to rearrange a display of shiny brass lanterns an old man is selling, before moving on to the very next stall where I slip a pair of bright blue babouches onto my feet, decide that I like them, and leave my old leather sandals along with a fistful of crumpled-up dirhams as payment. My eyes burning with the effort of keeping them open, knowing the instant I blink, the gandora-clad man will be one step farther from his destination, the cat will land on its mark, and two vendors will gaze at their wares in total confusion--the scene will return to one of perpetual chaos. Though when I spot the glowing people hoveri
