In an act of desperation, young Juliet Darcy flees her forced marriage and boards a vessel bound for California. Unbeknownst to her, it is a ship full of mail-order brides. Now, she is among those promised to men they had never met. Her would-be husband is Rodrigo Delgado, a wealthy aristocrat who takes one look at Juliet and vows to have her-- even if it means dueling with her first husband should he come to reclaim her.
