Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Introspection and Interior Decoration I was already a fan of Bechdel's Dykes to Watch Our For, but was very impressed by this. Insightful, funny and terrible all at the same time. She has an amazing capacity to set a whole scene, show incredible detail, and yet not over crowd the story. A good visual read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Interestingly Deep Read I read this book for a course on human development and found myself amazed by its power. The graphics are great (the book wouldn't be complete without them). It does get a little wordy at times but overall a nice book with a lot of meaning.

About the Book

Through narrative that is alternately heartbreaking and fiercely funny, readers are drawn into a daughter's complex yearning for her father. And yet, apart from assigned stints dusting caskets at the family-owned "fun home," as Alison and her brothers call it, the relationship achieves its most intimate expression through the shared code of books.
