Rated 5 out of 5 by from Watch Eve try to figure out Christmas I still love this series! With every book Nora Roberts manages to find a way to keep the characters developing, the stories interesting, and the world grabbing my attention. Eve and Roarke and their relationship is the top thing that keeps me addicted to this series. The two of them are so unique and fascinating and perfect for each other that even though you WANT to hate them for having what they have, you like them too much for being real and flawed and caring to manage it. This time around, poor Eve's trying to figure out what people with families and loved ones do about Christmas, and it's very funny and terribly poignant watching her choose gifts for the people she has finally started to admit to herself [if to no one else] are dear to her. The humour Roberts manages to insert into these books is a wonderful part of the enjoyment, particularly given that Eve's always investigating a homicide, or four and that is usually a heavy aspect of the stories. But the black humour Eve uses to manage the job she has is often laugh out loud and really great. The development of the supporting characters - in this outing it's Peabody and McNabb - really make the futuristic world Roberts has created for these characters feel real and full and colourful. The murders in this book are related to the holiday, which is all I'll say to avoid spoilers, and it's a tough case for Eve personally, as the victims are raped before being killed, raising Eve's own demons to haunt her as she desperately tries to find and stop the killer before any more bodies are found. This series never disappoints me. I love the stories, the three-dimensional development of the world Roberts has created, and especially the continued development of Eve and Roarke's story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of Robb's Best I found this to be one of the better J.D. Robb- Eve Dallas novels. Not that they all aren't good- Several different plot lines that are interesting as well as difficult in their ability to be personally dealt with. Some glances into Eve's devastating childhood and the relationships that formed her. How she struggles to understand, cope and put it behind her. The main plot has a social/moral aspect that intrigues. The book delves into some dark corners of society as well as the human mind while the joyous festivities of Christmas glitter on the surface. Very interesting and tight novel .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun, as always! The next book in the "In Death" series sees Eve Dallas back too work much too soon after her last brush with death. She is called onto the scene of a sexual homicide to find a pin of a partridge in a pear tree. Her and Peabody soon learn that the killer dresses up as Santa to get into the door then brutalizes his victims. The common connection is an up scale dating service. Eve tries to set out to find the 12 days of Christmas killer before he kills again. I was happy that for once, they figured out who the killer was before he had Eve in a corner and she learned it on her own. I noticed in error in the book though. For the third victim, they said there were 3 calling birds. Except it's 4 calling birds, 3 french hens. You'd think an editor would have caught that. I'm hoping that in the upcoming books McNab and Peabody get together, I like their chemistry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holiday In Death Number seven in the series and Eve Dallas is still going strong. Set against the Christmas holidays, Eve Dallas struggles to meet the challenges of a personal relationship and the traditions that surround the time of year. As well, she's hot on the heels of a killer that loves what he can't have so much, he's willing to kill it. Picking up the lives of the characters, where the last book left off, this is story that delivers romantic suspense at its best.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Holiday in Death The latest romantic suspense from J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) lives up to the quality of the previous books from this series. Lieutenant Eve Dallas has to track down a serial killer that uses a dating service to pick his victims. At the same time, Eve has to deal with the traditions surrounding Christmas, a task she has trouble handling. Although it's a little strange to read a Christmas book during the summer, this is a good book to relax with.

Employee Review

As always, Ms. Robb has done well. Murder again ensues. This time the victims answer their doors to find a jolly Santa bringing them gifts. But what a horrible gift death makes. Each victim is supposed to be Santa's true love, as in the Twelve Days of Christmas song, the first getting a bauble containing a partridge in a pear tree. Lieutenant Eve Dallas is the primary, and as always she is diligent in her job. She finds the connection between the victims is that they have all been patrons of the same dating agency. Is one of the owners, a twin brother and sister, the murderer? What kind of sick agency do they run? Eve will always find the truth -- and Robb will keep you in suspense.
