The House of Night is a thrilling, New York Times bestselling book series that follows 16-year-old Zoey Redbird as she is “Marked” by a vampyre tracker and begins to undergo the “Change” into an actual vampyre. She has to leave her family in Broken Arrow, OK, and move into the House of Night, a boarding school for other fledgling vampyres like her.

It’s tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling.  She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx. Although Zoey has awesome new powers, it’s hard to fit in when everyone knows you’re “special.”  As Zoey tries to make new friends and maybe find a hot boyfriend (or two), she comes up against all kinds of evil, from the perfect-looking, super-popular girl with not-so-faultless plans, to the mysterious deaths happening at the House of Night and all over Tulsa.  Things at the House of Night are not always what they seem.  Can Zoey find the courage deep within herself to find the truth and embrace her destiny?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing!!! I received this box set about 4-5 years ago as a Christmas gift and it stayed with me throughout high school and into my university years. Amazing story that keeps you on edge and pulls at your heart strings. I have read many reviews that see this series as awful and immature but, take into consideration if you purchase the box set and that the main characters are all high school students and the language is appropriate for their ages. A 16 year old is not going to use proper English every day especially when talking to their friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! House of night... Love the series. Definitely a different twist on the thought on the birth/death of vampyres. It shows us a different view of the vampyre life and culture. I love the characters. Lots of action, drama, and twists. Shows the power of friendship and truth. Also shows us that we can overcome our fears and teaches us to believe in ourselves. I am anxiously awaiting the release of the 10th book of the series... "Hidden" available in October 2012 .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Eww... Well, these vampire books suck (no pun intended)... I started these books thinking i found a light read and instead I found one story gruelingly stretched over 5 plus books (I lost count and didn't even read the last two books) and every other chapter is of the main character with a different guy! I would not recommend these books to anyone, especially kids under the age of 14. The first books might be appropriate but it all goes down hill from there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SERIES! This series is absolutely amazing. Once i started reading it i was completely hooked & i couldn't stop reading. I strongly recommend this to any teen who enjoys reading fictional, romance, action, and/or fantasy books. i found that it was so much better than the twilight series because it had more action, and romance and it. whereas twilight only had sections of action and romance from time to time throughout the novel. i would like to try this review short, simple and straight to the point so in conclusion the Marked series is worth every penny & i recommend it to anyone

Rated 3 out of 5 by from this book is alriight!, i like the concept of this book, but i disliked it when the good people in the book have to be the bad ones in the end. also the bad people get to a soft side and become really nice. i can all ready tell that it was going to happen because ive seen movies and read other books and there alll the same i thought it would be a little more challenging for the 2-4 books.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The House of Night The 1st book was slow in the begginging and then it got going. The first 4 books was really good, i sat at the edge of my seat wanting to know what will happen next, but the next few books were dissapontments to me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst series ever the first book and the second book i was ok with. but when the main girl decides to have 3 and even 4 boyfriends at one time, i draw the line. How is that exciting or even cool. The whole series is her fighting with the school and complaning about her boyfriends, getting pissed off when one breaks up with her and then they get back together. woo surprise there. This series is a waste of time to read.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Parents Beware- Should not be Read by Young Teens These books are part of the popular Vampire Fad, but please parents know what your kids are reading. I have read the entire series and the are pretty good for light reading but they are not appropriate for young teens. I was given these books to read by my 12 year old cousin and was very surprised by the content. With in the first few chapters of the first book there is implied oral sex. In another book, the main character has sex for the first time with one of her teachers. I am very dissapointent by the Author of these books as she is a mother herself writing with her daughter and romance writer or not, she should not be writing about sex in books aimed at pre and young teens.

Editorial Reviews

Praise for The House of Night novels: On Marked , House of Night Book 1:   “The Casts have put a very interesting new spin on vampire lore. The action is fast paced and absorbing, interspersing light moments among the intensity. When you reach the climax of the tale, you''ll be on the edge of your seat. Though this is labeled a young adult novel, I strongly suspect adults of any age will enjoy it.” – Huntress.com   “The Casts, mother and daughter, have written a delightful book that’s aimed at teens but will be enjoyed by readers of all ages. The trials of growing up are presented in the new and original context of a vampire society, and they’re woven into a thoroughly entertaining story. Zoey is a dynamic and spunky heroine who has an amusing and realistic voice. She’s surrounded by secondary characters who are just as engaging. The dialogue is sharp and the references to real people and pop culture add to the story. This promises to be a highly addictive series.” – Romantic Times (4.5 stars)   “A fantastic, fun-paced read.” – RomanceJunkies.com   “ Marked is one of the best coming of age stories to come out of Oklahoma since S. E. Hinton’s The Outsiders . It teaches about the beauty of being a social outcast, friendship, and finding your own inner spirituality.” – The Beltane Papers   “Readers will identify with many of the characters, especially th
