In fact, in the beginning, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III was the most put upon Viking you''d ever seen. Not loud enough to make himself heard at dinner with his father, Stoick the Vast; not hard enough to beat his chief rival, Snotlout, at Bashyball, the number one school sport and CERTAINLY not stupid enough to go into a cave full of dragons to find a pet... It''s time for Hiccup to learn how to be a Hero.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So much fun! With the success of the movie How to Train Your Dragon, more people are discovering the marvelous world created by Cressida Cowell. The now eight-book series follows the memoirs of one Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third who will grow up to be “the greatest Viking Hero that ever lived. “ Cowell creates a cast of characters that some will be familiar with, but her pencil-drawn illustrations give the books another dimension. The exaggeration of the facial features, ink blotches and penciled-in diagrams make it a very interactive reading experience. This book is great for reluctant readers and kids who like adventure and fantasy books.
