During a routine slaying, Buffy encounters a vampire named Veronique who knows the slayer''s name and can anticipate her attack. One who doesn''t have the proper respect for Mr. Pointy. One who cannot die. If slain, she will reincarnate in a new body.

An invincible demon is the last thing Buffy needs right now. Joyce Summers is about to undergo a serious operation, calling up all of her daughter''s fears about her own mortality. Angel wants to comfort Buffy, but her mother''s crisis underscores the differences between them: he will live forever, while she will grow old...or die young.

Torn between her duties as the Chosen One, Buffy needs the support of her friends to help her solve a rash of grave robberies, head off an influx of new vampires, and take Veronique down once and for all. For Veronique is on a mission -- to bring about the unification of her masters, the Triumvirate, into one all-powerful demon that will drink the blood of the last man on earth...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book is definately Immortal I just finished reading Buffy the Vampire Slayer Immortal. I thought this was one of the best Buffy books ever! i couldn't put it down! I'm not going to give it away, because I know whoever reads it will definately enjoy it! I liked this book because it was filled with suspence and action. I'm a collector of everything Buffy, and out of all the books written based on the hit television show, i honestly think that this one beats them all. This book is immortal for sure because I know it will never die!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Read! 'Immortal' is another hit from Golden and Holder -- two writers who have a better than usual grasp on the characters of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.' The novel -- the first hardcover in the Buffy series -- includes a lot of exposition, so it can be enjoyed by readers who may not be as familiar with the TV show, while still appealing to obsessed fans such as myself. I especially enjoyed the Buffy/Angel romance -- this book delves deeper into the feelings of the main characters than previous books in the series. All in all, well worth the price!

From Our Editors

Buffy needs all the help she can get in Immortal, which interweaves themes of endless life with human mortality and frailty in a package that Buffy the Vampire Slayer enthusiasts will treasure. The vampire Veronique is the nemesis that Buffy must contend with this time — a fearsome foe, who can reincarnate herself endlessly — who never dies. And Veronique has a diabolical plan to bring to fruition: the unification of the Triumvirate, her masters, who desire to drink to the last every drop of human blood on Earth. Not only that, but Buffy’s mom is undergoing serious surgery, which causes the Slayer great distress and wedges the gap between her and the immortal Angel even wider. Can Buffy withstand the emotional pressures of her all-too-human soul to fight off one of the greatest supernatural perils of all time?
