From the Publisher

In the latest addition to this New York Times bestselling series, cop-turned-lawyer Stone Barrington defends a mysterious former love charged with murder.

About the Author

Stuart Woods was born on January 9, 1938 in Manchester, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia. Woods worked in the advertising business and eventually wrote two non-fiction books before being given an advance to write a novel he had been pondering for nearly a decade. Chiefs (1981) won an Edgar Award and was made into a TV miniseries starring Charlton Heston. Woods has published a number of books since.

From Our Editors

As a cop-turned-lawyer, Stone Barrington has come across every possible type of criminal. Stone is about to marry Dolce, the daughter of a New York mafioso. But before the ceremony, his ex-love, Arrington Calder, calls on him for help. Arrington is under arrest for the murder of her film-star husband, and she wants Stone to defend her. As Stone builds Arrington's defence, he feels his old feelings of love returning. In L.A. Dead, Stone fears that Arrington may really be guilty of her husband's murder.
