Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Bad So I thought this book was pretty good not as good as I had hoped but still really enjoyable, I can see why people really like this series but there were some things that didn't wrok for me. I felt like there wasn't enough of a storyline not much really seemed to happen in my opinion, and I also know that everyone really liked Ben's involvement in this book and don't get me wrong I did as well but there was something about Erin,Todd's and Ben's relationahip that didn't work for me I'm not really sure how to explaine it but I still really liked his character. Overall I enjoyed the book it could have been better but I'm looking forward to reading the sequels. :0)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable Read I really enjoyed the story line in this book. It was sensual, erotic and depressing at times. It was a shame about what happened to Erin's child and the fears and pain she had to endure. I also loved how they worked Ben into the story and had him be their third partner. This book was wonderfully thought out and Lauren Dane did a great job.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Novel That Will Make You Melt Erin has gone through a great tragedy and this novel focuses on the relationship that she develops with Todd, who was an ex-lover. Now, ten years later they find each other again and build the relationship back up. Todd slowly peels away the layers that surrounded Erin. They discover that once Ben, Todd’s best friend, joins them that the relationship is then whole. Together the three of them work through each other’s problems and overcome the difficulties that occur within a threesome relationship. Personally I really enjoyed the novel and found it to be very sweet in how they were very close to each other and always there to support each other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Love Story This book is not a love story everyone may like, but I loved it. I'm sure most people have had someone in their life that they wish either they didn't walk away from or the other person didn't walk away. Todd and Erin have a little thing going on, but he is scared of his own desires while Erin has total confidence in herself, but Todd leaves and they both live their seperate lives. Ten years later, Todd moves back and Erin is still there and they pick up right where they left off. Alot has happened in both their lives and they are there for each other. Their relationship takes an unexpected turn when Ben, Todd's best friend ends up in their bed and all three of them enjoy their relationship even though they are not sure what to call it. When Erin gets a call that brings her past up front and centre, will she be strong enough and have the help to face it. Great book, page turner, has moments that touch your heart, and moments that get you all steamy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Naked Emotion Laid Bare is an entertaining and steamy read that packs an emotional punch. When Officer Todd Keenan and wild rocker Erin Brown split ten years ago it was more about him running from what he was than about what she was. Now he's back and they've both lived through near death experiences that changed them. Todd sets out to win Erin back and to do that, he must prove to her that he is comfortable with himself and his 'kinks'. As their relationship re-develops, they find themselves inviting Todd's best friend Ben into their relationship. Having three people in a relationship has many complications, the least of which is how to deal with their families. When Erin's past comes back to haunt her, the question becomes can their relationship survive not only the trauma of Erin's past but the judgment of their relatives? Dane has crafted a story about menage that stands out from the rest. This is mainly because the story is about more than just the hot sex. It's about the emotions and relationship of the main characters. Dane puts them front and centre leaving nothing hidden. After a disatrous marriage for all the wrong reasons, ten years later, Todd is more confident with his sexuality. He realizes that he will never be happy unless he stands up for his wishes and stops hiding his real self from the world. Erin, once the confident rocker chick, is open and direct. Ten years later, she may be damaged, but she is still strong and knows what she wants. Finally, there's Ben. Ben’s a real sweety. Even though in their relationship they are all equal, outside of the relationship Ben is the FRIEND living with the married couple. It puts him in a hard place yet he believes that what he has it worth it. While this story is about a menage, it is not as hardcore as some. There is very mild M/M interaction, but it is pretty tame. Although I found at times the story got a bit too 'angsty', if you are looking for a steamy read with a bit more substance to it, I would recommend you try this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AN AMAZING LOVE STORY WITH UNEXPECTED DESIRES Oh how I loved this one. LAID BARE it’s one of the best erotica books I’ve read; encompassing the perfect mix of raw sexuality along with tenderness, growth and understanding. There is also a beautiful love story here that eventually involves 3 people and Lauren Dane has done a wonderful job of exploring the boundaries and complexities involved in an M/M/F relationship. Bondage and the Dom/sub lifestyle are also explored but done here with love and respect, which I appreciated. This story grabbed me from page 1 as we are introduced to wild child Erin. She’s beautifully written as the tattooed and dreadlocked singer from an emerging Indie band. Erin makes no apologies for what and who she desires and she desires her neighbour, the straight-laced, country music lovin cop Todd. Todd in turn is attracted to Erin but doesn’t foresee a future as they are just so different in fact he doesn’t even want his cop buddies to see him with her. She also brings out his darker, kinkier side which scares the hell out of him, enough so that he eventually ends the relationship and marries a ‘good girl’ Erin in the meantime becomes a full blown rock star, popular with the MTV crowd because of her ever-changing appearance and wild antics. 10 years later the now divorced Todd enters a coffee shop only to find Erin behind the counter. She’s changed, no longer the carefree rocker chick he once knew (although she does have pink hair) Something’s happened to her on the rise to fame, something so terrible it’s stolen her spirit and almost killed her. They can’t fight the fact that they still have feelings for each other though and with Todd now willing to embrace his alternative needs they fall in love. Even though Erin is strong willed she still likes to be dominated in the bedroom. And as their relationship grows we get some very intense love scenes as they take things to new and exciting levels. When exhibitionism enters the mix its only a matter of time before Ben, Todd’s sexy best friend and new business partner gets involved in the scene and then WOW do things ever heat up. I’m not usually one for the ménage but this worked for me, the perfect combination of alpha male exploration and sensitivity. Ben is bisexual whereas Todd’s never even considered taking a man into his bed until Ben offered. Still Todd loves his best friend and is willing to just see where things go. He’s a bit shy so when they share their first kiss, sigh it’s pretty hot. Initially I felt kind of uncomfortable when Ben got it on with Erin, it felt like they were cheating even though Todd was right there with them. I credit this to this to writing because I was so wrapped up in the characters and what they were feeling that I didn‘t want anyone to get hurt. As the passion and love the trio shares begins to transform and mend Erin the evil from her past comes back to haunt them. Will they be strong enough to get through it? If you’re a fan of erotica then I highly recommend this. I can honestly say that I’ve never been quite this turned on by a book and there was the added bonus of a great storyline too. COMING UNDONE the sequel to LAID BARE is due to be released in Jan 2010. I’m interested to see which of her sexy secondary characters Lauren Dane chooses for this follow up . Cheers.

From the Publisher

A powerful chronicler of the American Nightmare through his gripping examinations of near-mythic Southern California murders (the Black Dahlia, Tate-La Bianca), John Gilmore now draws upon his personal experiences to turn his sights on our morbid obsession with Celebrity and the ruinous price it extracts from those who would pursue it. With caustic clarity and 20/20 hindsight, Gilmore unstintingly recounts his relationships with the likes of Janis Joplin, Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper, Jane Fonda, Jean Seberg and Lenny Bruce on the way up and at the peaks of their notoriety. In baring his role in James Dean''s attempts to push the bounds of sexual experimentation, Gilmore explores the actor''s legendary fascination with speed and death. With hip, vivid prose, Gilmore describes his illuminating and often haunting first-hand encounters with Hank Williams, Ed Wood, Jr., Briggite Bardot, Sal Mineo, Eartha Kitt, Charles Manson, Jayne Mansfield, Vampira, Steve McQueen and many other denizens of the 20th century''s dubious Pantheon.
