Rated 1 out of 5 by from a very quick read the Stephanie Plum books are, as usual, entertaining, but not worth the $30.00 hard cover price. A book that can be read in a day does not fall in the category of lasting fiction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great but... This is classic Stephanie Plum. Ranger or Morelli, Grandma's antics and life and death situations. I think Janet is getting a little jaded with the series and it's showing. 6-12 were fabulous but this one and the inbetweens are not up to par.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome on so many different levels! Janet Evanovich has to be one of the most talented and endearing authors in our lifetime. You get drawn into this "world" and feel as if you're really there, watching all the zaney, comical, scary and HOT scenes that Evanoivch writes so clearly about. The most amazing thing is that there are 13 books and counting in this series alone! Plus 2 "in between" books! (because the fans of this series can't wait a whole year for the next novel to come out!) And she has another series starting out ( The Motor Mouth Series) along with the "fluffy" love stories we all love to read, even if we don't want to admit to it :) (Might I add ALL books are awesome to read. Stephanie, (the main character in the Plum series) is the leading lady and boy is she funny. She has 2 boyfriends (complicated- yes...awesome to read about - Definitely!) Joe and Ranger, both good for her in different ways, a best friend named Lula- former Ho ( read the book, and grow to love her :), and a family that might sound more familiar than you think! Stephanie always manages to get into trouble, and the ways she gets out of it.......well you'll just have to read the book! I can tell you that your heart will race with fear, and also adrenaline! Ranger and Joe are always close behind, ready to help Stephanie out. You will be rooting for Steph all the way. Whenever I read Stephanie Plum books, I end up laughing out loud to myself, and always look around to see if there is anyone I can read the paragraph to; I always want to share her funny escapades. I won't tell you anymore, because that would ruin the experience of reading these delightful books! I have collected her books in hardcover because I read them so often. My Plum books are my "go to" novels. now.....go get those books!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressed yet again! Janet Evanovich has, once again, reduced me to uncontrollable tears of laughter! I love following Stephanie Plum on her misadventures, and am yet to be disappointed! Absolutely hilarious! Can't wait for Plum Lucky!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Huge fan of the series. Both my daughter, son and I have laughed out load to the antics and characters. This book was flat. Author should have waited to publish till stronger more detailed plot was in place. Would strongly recommend series if your looking for a good laugh and easy read around the pool. I paid new release hardcover for this one and definately not worth it. Maybe discount paperback.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yet, Another Good One!!!! Erin Evanovich rules!!! The Stephanie Plum series has been the best series I have read in a long long time. It is one of those series that you can just lay back & enjoy reading. No hard weird words that you need to look-up in a dictionary. No re-reading of paragraphs hoping to eventually understand what the author is getting at. Just a nice light read with a TON of LAUGHS!!! Can't wait for the next one....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lean and Mean Ranger, Morelli, Lula, and Grandma Mazur, and of course Stephanie are up to their usual antics in Janet Evanovich's Lean Mean 13. In this one Dickie Orr, Stephanie's ex goes missing and she's a suspect in his disappearance and possible murder. As usual Stephanie is short on money but has an abundance of male testosterone around her. The book is fun and easy to read. There are some good laughs to be had.........watch out for the exploding squirrel. The running gag about the cable company is also amusing. This one isn't Janet's best, but much better than some others in the series. Overall, i liked it.

Read from the Book

Chapter One For the last five minutes, I''d been parked outside my cousin Vinnie''s bail bonds office in my crapola car, debating whether to continue on with my day, or return to my apartment and crawl back into bed. My name is Stephanie Plum, and Sensible Stephanie wanted to go back to bed. Loco Stephanie was thinking she should get on with it. I was about to do something I knew I shouldn''t do. The signs were all there in front of me. Sick stomach. Feeling of impending disaster. Knowledge that it was illegal. And yet, I was going to forge ahead with the plan. Not that this was especially unusual. Truth is, I''ve been dealing with impending doom for as long as I can remember. Heck, when I was six years old I sprinkled sugar on my head, convinced myself it was pixie dust, wished myself invisible, and walked into the boys'' bathroom at school. I mean, you don''t know the water''s over your head until you jump in, right? The door to the bonds office opened, and Lula stuck her head out. "Are you gonna sit there all day, or what?" she yelled at me. Lula is a black woman with a Rubenesque body and a Vegas wardrobe that''s four sizes too small. She is a former ''ho, currently working as a file clerk for the office and a wheelman for me . . . when the mood strikes. Today, she was wearing big fake-fur Sasquatch boots, and her ass was packed into poison-green spandex pants. Her pink sweatshirt had Love Goddess spelled out in sequins across her boobs. My wardrobe runs a lot more casual

About the Author

Janet Evanovich is the author of the Stephanie Plum books, including One for the Money and Sizzling Sixteen, and the Diesel & Tucker series, including Wicked Appetite. Janet studied painting at Douglass College, but that art form never quite fit, and she soon moved on to writing stories. She didn’t have instant success: she collected a big box of rejection letters. As she puts it, “When the box was full I burned the whole damn thing, crammed myself into pantyhose and went to work for a temp agency.” But after a few months of secretarial work, she managed to sell her first novel for $2,000. She immediately quit her job and started working full-time as a writer. After 12 romance novels, she switched to mystery, and created Stephanie Plum. The rest is history. Janet’s favorite exercise is shopping, and her drug of choice is Cheeze Doodles. She and her husband live in New Hampshire, in house with a view of the Connecticut River Valley.
