From Our Editors

The Samuelson clan has seen its share of loss, pain and suffering, but there is a shimmer of joy and hope in the midst of it all. If it weren't for the binding ties with her mom, her cousin Margot and her best friend, young Gretel would never know about laughter, the beauty of romance or about spiritual awakening. Beautifully crafted, Alice Hoffman's Local Girls is a lesson in taking the good with the bad, but never dreaming for anything less than wonderful.
