Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great book by a great filmaker I was in the Richmond, B.C. location of Chapters late last year looking for a different title, and I saw the spine of the paperback version of "Making Movies." At first glance I thought it was just some silly book, something not worth buying -maybe worth a quick laugh for maybe nothing more than a slight chuckle. But I looked at it and on the cover I saw Roger Ebert's fantastic quote, along with some guy named Spielberg who also loved it, and yet another wonderfull quote of praise by some news magazine. I flipped through it and ended up reading chunks of it right then and there. So obviously the next step - I went and bought it. In less than a day I finished it and I loved it so much I read it again. Because it's really just a perfect insight into a career that I want to get into. I've recomended this title to friends and librarians everywhere - and I'll say this to anyone who is even remotely interested in movies - read this book! I wish more fimakers would spill the beans so openly and honestly as Lumet does. And by the way, I never did find that other book I was looking for. But don't take my word for it.... ;)
