From ancient traditions to modern practices, this superb book takes readers on a historical and visual tour of the practice of medicine through the ages. Roy Porter expertly weaves a tale that not only looks at how therapeutic practices have changed, but also how the role of the healer has altered. Fabulously illustrated, Medicine: A History of Healing also informs readers of the rise of medical science in the West and the phenomenal rise of Eastern holistical therapies, not to mention the convergence between the two cultures as the millennium draws near. Specially priced, this makes an excellent addition to any home library.
