Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A bit disappointed with it but I'm not giving up on the series! I’m quite behind on this series, but I still wanted to share my thoughts with you. Most of the books that I’ve read so far in this series have been very entertaining but for some reason, this one fell short. I assume that my expectations were too high, from the others that I’ve read, and after finishing it, MEGAN’S MARK became my least favorite of the series. I still highly recommend the whole series, especially if you like good romance with your paranormal fiction. For those of you who have never heard of this series, the Breeds are basically a group of people who have been genetically engineered with human and animal DNA in a labs across the world. Their creators had in mind to create a species of superior killers and soldiers, and tried to keep them in captivity and beat the freedom out of each individual Breed. Obviously, the Breeds got tired of being mistreated and those who have freed themselves have joined together to fight against their common enemy, the Genetics Council. When you pick up a Lora Leigh book, you’re guaranteed strong and virile men throughout. The main male character of this book is Braden and his possessive nature made me like him very much. His dedication to helping Megan was admirable and his ability to keep his distance when she needed it was perfect for the role of Megan’s mate. Megan is a woman that has always done everything for herself and even if she likes having Braden by her side, she still wants to be able to fight for herself. Together, they compliment each other very well and it created great romance. But that’s just it. Even if I really enjoyed all the romance, the book a bit of lacked action. Megan and Braden are known thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies, but both seemed more interested in staying home, in bed. Although there were some fight sequences, and they did get out of the house once or twice, some of these scenes didn’t amount to much. And it just didn’t feel thrilling enough for me. Megan’ psychic abilities was also a low point for me. She’s supposed to be a strong and intelligent woman that went through intense training at the police academy. To me, someone with her dedication should have been able to find a way to control her ability without Braden’s help. And just because he was genetically engineered in a lab, it doesn’t mean Braden should have all the answers to her psychic abilities. I have a very hard time seeing the link between the two and how everything can be very hard for Megan to control one day, and then be very easy only days after meeting her mate. I think a little bit more attention should have been given to the description of the psychic abilities. The biggest low point for me, however, was the antagonist. His reason for attacking Megan and for doing the things he did was unrealistic, even for a blood thirsty psychopath. Even if I listed a few things in the book that didn’t work for me, I have to hand it to the author; Lora Leigh knows how to write a good romance scene. She had me devour her book in no time, even if this book is my least favorite of hers. It definitively has me wanting more and I already have a few of her hot and steamy books waiting in my TBR pile.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hot, Hot, Hot The first by the author in the Feline Breeds series and as per Lora Leigh's usual style this one hot, probably hot enough to land on most peoples erotica shelf. Very enjoyable, especially if your looking for something extra spicy. 105/1000

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Breed series has great potential Megan is a physic that is hiding the New Mexico desert. She finds too many people and too many emotions overwhelming. In fact when she was training to become a police officer it almost cost lives. Megan is out checking into a call of a car in the desert when she is attacked and the very arrogant Braden rescues her. They are like oil and water personality wise, but there is a sexual heat that is immediate between them. Braden glues himself to Megan as they try and figure out who is trying to kill Megan and why. Their attraction is almost getting in the way, and after one powerful kiss they are forever joined together. Braden is a breed, half man, and half lion. In his kiss a pheromone was released from the glands in his mouth, only released by the breeds one true mate. Now the couple will be at the mercy of their passions. As the couple keep the passions in check and hunt for those after them they find that it all leads back to the breed laboratories. Now the couple must stop the enemy before the enemy gets them. This is actually the seventh book in Leigh’s Breed series. I can’t find the previous books anywhere and have been told that they are not longer in print with no current plans to bring them back. The book was good, very hot and spicy! I would have liked the option to read the previous ones as there as the back-story is missing. You get tidbits of it, but it leaves you feeling a little left out. It is almost like you are getting 75% of the story. If you are uncomfortable with graphic erotica stay away from this book. I am going to pick up the next one and see if I can get the overall story to make more sense.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A book to skip! I began to read this serie with Coyote's mate and was a bit mixed up with the breed thing . Anyway, I liked the book so I decided to buy Megan' mark to get get some cues about this new world. What a deception it was. The characters are stereotyped and previsible. The story is not very interesting and if the author could restrain herself from repeating the same things over and over, the book could be cut off of 50 pages. I hope I will find the newness I found in Coyote's Mate in a another book further in the serie. The erotic scenes are so exagerated that they left me cold and...dry. A book to skip!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as great as the other. This story was kind of lacking. The story is that a couple of Breeds are found dead and it up to Deputy Sheriff Megan Marks to solve the crime. Of course she needs the help of Braden, a Breed who is the only one who can get close to her because of her empathic abilities. Good thing too cause she too is a target of the crazy Breed killer. The reason for this isn't clearly explained and I think that's why the story seemed so muddled. I think you can skip this one without losing anything within the series. I actually read Harmony's Way before this one and hadn't really missed anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Breed Series Everyone who is into paranormal romance needs to run to the store and buy this series immediately! The whole series is fast-paced and keeps the reader wanting more. The characters are absorbing and loveable. It takes place in the future where scientist create humans who have embedded animal genetics, making them more breed than human. This creates discrepancy between the two races. Each novel focuses on a couple and their difficulties/differences. Everyone who reads this series will fall in love with the breed society.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Purrrfect" Crossing boundaries has never been so much fun. The latest book by Ms. Leigh has a tantalizing concept, intense characters and non-stop action. From beginning to end — I couldn't put it down. It's a wild ride whether the action is a chase through the canyons and desert of New Mexico or the very erotic seduction of Megan by the purrrfectly hunky Braden. I'm looking forward to the next installment and hope (fingers crossed here) that it might just feature Mr. Wyatt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Page Turner! This is the first time I've read Lora Leigh. I could not put her book down. The characters were very well developed, the story line riveting. I've read a lot of Paranormal books, but, this one was great. The very idea of crossing human DNA with animal DNA has never been written about, as far a I know. The very fact that the main character has more animal characteristis than human is done very well. The fact that he seems to compliment the main female character with her being human and he being a breed was done very sensually. I can't wait to read more about these characters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Completely thrilling! I truly enjoyed this book. The ideas were intresting and the characters were deliciously flawed. There were some intensely erotic scenes that kept me anxiously awaiting the next one. I can't wait to read more from this author.
