With a dagger in her hand and vengeance on her mind, Darkhaven beauty Elise Chase prowls Boston’s streets in search of retribution against the Rogue vampires who took from her everything she cherished. Using an extraordinary psychic gift, she tracks her prey, well aware that the power she possesses is destroying her. She must learn to harness this gift, and for that she can turn to only one man—the deadliest of the Breed warriors, Tegan.

No stranger to loss, Tegan knows Elise’s pain. He knows fury, but when he slays his enemies it is with ice in his veins. He is perfect in his self-control, until Elise seeks his aid in her personal war. An unholy alliance is forged—a bond that will link them by blood and vow—and plunge them into a tempest of danger, desire, and the darkest passions of the heart. . . .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gaining momentum At book 3 this series is finally starting to stand alone, and the similarities between the Midnight Breed and the BDB are diminishing. That's a good thing! The romance in this book was a nice slow burn that kept you guessing; and the war grew more interesting and surprising. Looking forward to book 4!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Ruthless Lover Midnight Awakening is the 3rd book in the Midnight Breed Series. This story follows Tegan, a Gen One vampire who is a dangerous and cold warrior. He has the gift of reading people's emotions with his touch. He is known to be the most scary and ruthless of the Breed warriors. We met Elise in the previous book she is the widower’s aristocrat Breedmate who watched her Rogue son get killed by her brother in law. She is no longer the proper reserved woman she used to be. she is on a mission and the mission is to avenge the death of her son. She is tracking and killing Minions because of her gift of hearing human thoughts. While killing a minion Tegan finds out what Elise is up to. He can't help but be drawn to her although he has no interest in being mated or involved with anyone, he can't help but want her. Together they work towards finding out the meaning of a journal and try to discover Merek's evil plans before it's too late. This couple is fantastic together. You can't say opposite's attract better than saying Tegan and Elise being together. They initially help each other out of necessity but inevitably form a bond with each other that has them both scared. They fight their attraction to each other and the sexual tension in this book is palpable. I love this series. It’s just keeps getting better and better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than I thought This is the third book in the Midnight Breed series and I thought it was really good, it was better than I thought it was going to be. I was unsure of how this book was going to turn out for me because I was unsure about the characters, but I'm happy to say it was great and I really enjoyed this book,it's characters and storyline. Overall this was a great book to a great series, I'm on to the next. :0)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very hot Book three of the Midnight Breed series. Elise is the mother from the previous novel who's son was killed. Since then she has been avenging her son by killing minions, but when she gets in trouble she is rescued by Tegan, the one man who can block the psychic pain and the one she can't stop thinking about. I found this one in the series to be well told and very hot. 101/1000

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blistering Heat and Thrilling Action! After seeing her son killed in front of her eyes, Elise Chase wants revenge on those responsible for her son turning Rogue. She uses her psychic ability to hunt down those involved, but she has never learned to manage her gift. Slowly, it will destroy her if she cannot find a way to control it, so Elise turns to Tegan for help. Tegan is a frightening Breed warrior who is cold and lethal, but underneath his emotionless façade, he understands the pain Elise feels over the loss of her son. Despite his initial refusal to help her, Tegan cannot deny that he feels something for Elise. Together they form a bond that will allow her to fight for the memory of her son, but will desire interfere? I’m still feeling the heat from Midnight Awakening, the third novel in Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series. The plot for this book was set up in the previous novel, Kiss of Crimson, resulting in a seamless transition from one book to the next. The characters had already been introduced, and the intensity between them was present immediately. It took very little time for the direction of the novel and the atmosphere between the many characters to be established, and suspense and excitement were built rapidly in the continuing inter-novel plot and the relationship plot. The last third of the novel had some thrilling revelations that upped my expectations for the whole series. I think there are some very promising events to come. Based on the previous novels, Tegan is portrayed as a detached man – vampire – who feels nothing for anyone, not even himself. We learn that he has endured great emotional pain in the past because of a shattering loss, and it appears that as a result he is incapable of emotion at all. Every paranormal series has a character like Tegan. You know, the damaged guy that everyone else thinks is a heartless, cruel, dangerous jerk, but there is that one woman who can reach him. Despite the fact that it’s all pretty formula and cliché, that type of character is usually my favorite. Tegan is no exception. I realize this probably says a lot about me and women in general, but let’s not turn this into an exploration of the female brain. Elise is a very determined character. I even want to say that she is strong despite her internal struggles and need for help. Sometimes it takes a lot of strength to ask for help when you need it, right? I really liked her, and I approved of her with Tegan. They fit together well. Tegan and Elise’s character development during the novel was just as satisfying as the twists in plot were! Plus, the intimate scenes were blisteringly hot! Midnight Awakening is the perfect addition to any paranormal junkie’s shelf, but I urge readers to read the series in the right order for maximum enjoyment!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They Weren't Lokking For love,But they Found It!! Welcome to the world of Breed warriors, a group of vampires who have sworn to protect the civilian race of vampires and humans from rogues who have lost their senses to the disease of bloodlust. Bloodlust is the equivalent of a human being addicted to drugs, and all that these rogue vamps can think of is the undying need to quench their thirst. It has started a war that seems to have no end. This is the 3rd book in the Breed series. This is about Tegan a Gen One( first generation vamp) the deadliest fighter and the coldest of the Breed warriors, no one can get to close to him, he hides behind his cold heart and an equally cold blade. The only thing that he lives for is the hunt and killing of rogues. It’s his past that has shaped him to the warrior he is now, knowing the disease of bloodlust firsthand and the pain of losing a loved one to the rogues. This is all about to change when he meets the beautiful and fragile Elise. Elise knows pain first hand being a Breedmate(human women who are mated to vamps and can bare them children). In recent years Elise has lost her husband and was in mourning and to make life worst she has lost her son to the rogues, who triggered his bloodlust (check 2nd book Kiss of Crimson). Since all that she loves was taken away, Elise feels she must do something to stop this war. Being gifted with psychic abilities she is able to listen in and find these rogues minions (humans who serve the rogues, no longer able to think for themselves). Since the lost of her son she has been playing a dangerous game of hunt, and has killed a few minions all by her lonesome, until her actions catches up to her. Then it’s Tegan to her rescue, let’s just say she got caught doing something she shouldn’t and he gets dragged into a partnership he doesn’t really want. So now they are on a mission to figure out what the rogues next move will be, because they have something very important that the leader of the rogues want and will stop at nothing to gain it. Tegan fears for Elise because the rogues now know who she is, he has no choice but to keep her close and that’s the last thing he wants. It has become harder to stay away from her and the need to sink his fangs into her neck only grows stronger, because once they share blood a bond will form that will become unbreakable. Only through death will it be broken. So the chase is on to stop a evil and when one door opens another closes and the Breed is finding that out firsthand. Now another evil might be upon them and will they be able to stop it in time. I love this series, its fast paced and exciting. The relationship between Tegan and Elise is sweet and sexy. Tege is the man, I love the aloof, I don’t need anyone kinda guy. Elise looks fragile and sweet but when she is needed she becomes a warrior too. A story about how a beauty tames the beast, and a love that heals. Miss Adrian writing is emotional and erotic, nothing like blood and sex to get your mojo going. I can’t wait to continue with the other books; I find that they are getting better with each novel. On the PL scale it’s a 3.5. Tegan oh Tegan you got me. An excellent read! 2010-003

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great addition to the series. Elise has one thing on her mind...vengeance. After losing everything she holds dear Elise prowls the streets using her extraordinary psychic gift hunting Rogues. But she needs help. Elise turns to the deadliest of all Breed warriors, the ice-cold Tegan. Tegan is captivated not only by her beauty but her courage and determination. Elise is physically weak and there is no way she will be able to continue on without the blood of Breed male. She disregards social norms and takes Tegan’s blood without the intention of a blood bond. Despite both of them looking the other way at love nothing can stop the fireworks. The more time they spend together and the more Elise takes Tegan into her body their desire for one another escalates and so begins what I think is the most exciting romantic pairing of the series. Elise has been the strongest Breedmate yet, the perfect match for Tegan. She breaks him down and he gives her the love of a man, a partner, that she has been missing her entire life. An exciting, page turning addition to the series. It just keeps getting better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from loving it! I can't get enough of this series! This book is about the breed warrior Tegan who is the most distant of the warriors and Elise who is a breedmate who lost her mate and most recently her son. Elise is out for vengence for the death of her son and is killing minions, but one early evening everything changes when Tegan saves her life from some Rogues. He lets Elise use him for his blood to help her with her gift and that was to be the end of it, but Tegan and Elise find that it's not. Great book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leaves you wanting more I absolutely loved this book. It had everything goin' on. It was a page turner for sure! It had romance, excitement, everything you could want in a book. It is one of those books that you don't want to end, but you can't stop reading. Looking forward to the next one, it has a lot to live up to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Original and enticing An amazing addition to the series no doubt. With far more action then Kiss of Crimson and a promise of further mayhem in the next with the coming battle of the war and the ancient Gen One. Tegan and Elise's story was sweet and non to son I think for the warrior with his icy heart. It was also great to see that he and Lucan finally settled things. A fantastic third novel by a great author. This series promises nothing more then great action and sweet romance. I have to admit though, the first, Kiss of Midnight and the romance Gabrielle and Lucan shared is still my favorite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I loved it! Out of the three novels, I can't decide which I liked more. If forced to choose, however, I'd have to say this one is my favourite... so far. More excellent actions scenes that have you holding your breath. More erotic sex scenes that leave you just as breathless as the characters... I'm so unbelievably happy for Tegan and Elise, happy that they found each other, happy that they found the love that was lacking. After all they'd been through, they so deserve each other. Maket gets what he deserves, but a twist in this one makes it far from over. My mistake was reading the excerpt for Midnight Rising. It isn't out until March 25th and already I'm too anxious! LOL!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent The third book in this series delivers. This series is excellent so far, if you like JR Ward this is a must read . A new angle on the vampire genre, this series should be on the shelves of anyone who claims to be a fan of paranormal romance. Book four is on the way, if book three is any indication, it should be action packed. Keep them coming Lara!

Read from the Book

Chapter One She walked among them undetected, just another afternoon rush-hour commuter trudging through the fresh February snowfall on her way to the train station. No one paid any mind at all to the petite female in the hooded oversized parka, her scarf concealing her face to just below her eyes, which watched the crowds of human pedestrians with keen interest. Too keen, she knew, but she couldn''t help it. She was anxious being out among them, and impatient to find her prey. Her head rang with the pound of rock music blaring in through the tiny earbuds of a portable MP3 player. It wasn''t hers. It had belonged to her teenage son-to Camden. Sweet Cam, who''d died just four months ago, a victim of the underworld war that Elise herself was now a part of as well. He was the reason she was here, prowling Boston''s crowded streets with a dagger in her coat pocket and a titanium-edged blade strapped to her thigh. More than ever now, Camden was the reason she lived. His death could not go unavenged. Elise crossed at a traffic light and moved up the road toward the station. She could see people talking as she passed them, their lips moving silently, their words-more important, their thoughts-drowned out by the aggressive lyrics, screaming guitars, and pulsing throb of bass that filled her ears and vibrated in her bones. She didn''t know precisely what she was listening to, nor did it matter. All she needed was the noise, played loud enough and long enough to get her into place for
