The quintessential Girl-Likes-Boy-Who-Likes-Boys, from the New York Times bestselling authors of NICK & NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST!

Naomi and Ely are best friends. Naomi loves and is in love with Ely, and Ely loves Naomi, but prefers to be in love with boys. So they create their "No Kiss List" of people neither of them is allowed to kiss. And this works fine…until Bruce.

Bruce is Naomi's boyfriend, so there's no reason to put him on the List. But when Ely kisses Bruce, the result is a rift of universal proportions. Can these best friends come back together again? Or will this be the end of Naomi and Ely: the institution?

Told in alternating voices using an array of emoticons and symbols by co-authors Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, co-author of WILL GRAYSON, WILL GRAYSON with John Green (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS), NAOMI AND ELY’S NO KISS LIST is the ultimate offbeat love—and in love—story.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I couldn't get into this right away, But man was it good once I did. I had read Nick and Norah first, just because the movie was coming out and I enjoy reading books before I see the movie they were based on. I really enjoyed reading that book, and bought this one soon after with similar expectations. While the book was a bit slow at the beginning, I found myself getting to like the characters more and more as the story went on. While certain people seemed like they were inserted in the book just to create an extra story line, I found myself really connecting to the character of Ely. (I felt like I should have connected with Naomi more, but I didn't!) I laughed along with this book, and felt for the characters when things just didn't turn out the way they planned. As a straight female with an (attractive) gay best friend, the story really interested me. It's a great story about love, trust, and the worst kind of betrayal. I'd recommend it to anyone, and I'm forcing my little sister to read it as soon as she's done the last book I gave to her!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Read Brilliant book -- The author does a fantastic job of weaving believable characters with believable situations. It's ultimately a tale of love, heartache, growing-up, apart and back together again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as the Gingerbread series. I loved the Gingerbread, Shrimp, Cupcake series by Rachel Cohn and this one didn't quite live up to my expectations. Naomi and Ely have lived across from each other in an apartment building in NYC their whole lives. We met them their first year of NYU. Ely is gay and Naomi has been saving her virginity for him. She is quite sure he is going to be her first. She has been dating a boy named Bruce but won't sleep with him because he isn't Ely. Then Ely and Bruce kiss. And Ely and Naomi break-up. This book was a fun read with interesting pop-culture references and the chapters alternated different characters which was interesting. However, I didn't really get Naomi. I got Ely - he really didn't understand what Naomi was thinking - and neither did I. It wasn't a bad book - it just wasn't as good as the Gingerbread books - start there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Read This is the second book by Rachel Cohn that I have read. This time she pairs up with David Levithan to write a complicated, girl loves boy, boy loves boy story that is hilarious and heartbreaking. Told in a variety of perspectives and filled with some really fun pop-cultural references, this is a fun fast read.
