Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Hell of a Read! As someone who has read a bit of Stephen King's works, 'Needful Things'is among his best. This book is so much fun and fast-paced despite its length full of interesting small town characters. When a new store opens up with a devillish proprietor looking to trade shoddy goods in exchange for souls, the town of Castle Rock literally goes to hell. Love it and look forward to watching the director's cut of the film adaptation. Stephen King at his best!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest book I've ever read. I'm quite young, but I'm old enough to realize what a great author Stephen King really is. His ideas and detailed writing makes me want to read every book he has ever written. It's my favourite book and I absolutely love reading it. It's my first Stephen King book and I'm enjoying it so much. I plan to read 'It' besides the fact that it has over 1000 pages. =D

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Master Piece! I really enjoyed "Needful Things". I feel this is one of the best novels I have ever read. I have watched the movie on this book, but it does not compare to the description and power that Stephen King put into this novel. Way to go Stephen - you are a brilliant writer!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needful Things a Necessity A necessity for all Stephen King fans, this is another homerun. An elderly (therefore harmless, right?) store merchant moves into Castle Rock and opens a new shop full of 'Needful Things' for everyone. And of course, there is something for everyone, except the price of each object is equipped with a seemingly insignificant prank. King establishes early on in the book that each townsperson is involved in some sort of conflict with one other townsperson, so by the time he introduces 'pranks' to the story, we know what will happen sooner or later. My favourite thing about this book is the fact that everything fits together like an articulate puzzle, like an episode of 'Seinfeld' without the humor. Every character is vital in the progression of each 'prank', and soon each townperson is blaming everybody and their brother, accusing them of pulling this 'prank' because they are the most likely suspect. Near the end of the book, King writes of the riots in the streets and the fighting between the townspeople in a way that we can feel the chaos around us. That's great writing! And I might add, it must have been hard for him to write this book, because he would have had to keep track of the history of every single character in order for the book to make perfect sense. And he does.
