The First Full Length Stephanie Plum Between-the-Numbers Novel from #1 Bestselling Author Janet Evanovich.

Turn on all the lights and check under your bed. Things are about to get spooky in Trenton, New Jersey.

According to legend, the Jersey Devil prowls the Pine Barrens and soars above the treetops in the dark of night. As eerie as this might seem, there are things in the Barrens that are even more frightening and dangerous. And there are monkeys. Lots of monkeys.

Wulf Grimoire is a world wanderer and an opportunist who can kill without remorse and disappear like smoke. He’s chosen Martin Munch, boy genius, as his new business partner, and he’s chosen the Barrens as his new playground.

Munch received his doctorate degree in quantum physics when he was twenty-two. He’s now twenty-four, and while his brain is large, his body hasn’t made it out of the boys’ department at Macy’s. Anyone who says good things come in small packages hasn’t met Munch. Wulf Grimoire is looking for world domination. Martin Munch would be happy if he could just get a woman naked and tied to a tree.

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has Munch on her most-wanted list for failure to appear in court. Plum is the all-American girl stuck in an uncomfortable job, succeeding on luck and tenacity. Usually she gets her man. This time she gets a monkey. She also gets a big guy named Diesel.

Diesel pops in and out of Plum’s life like birthday cake – delicious to look at and taste, not especially healthy as a steady diet, gone by the end of the week if not sooner. He’s an über bounty hunter with special skills when it comes to tracking men and pleasing women. He’s after Grimoire, and now he’s also after Munch. And if truth were told, he wouldn’t mind setting Stephanie Plum in his crosshairs.

Diesel and Plum hunt down Munch and Grimoire, following them into the Barrens, surviving cranberry bogs, the Jersey Devil, a hair-raising experience, sand in their underwear, and, of course . . . monkeys.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Always.. Nice quick read. Love that I can pick up any of these books and enjoy them. Find them a bit repetitive sometimes, but its easy to look past as they are just so enjoyable to read. This one had a pretty quick end to it which surprised me, it just kind of came out of nowhere. But as always, love Diesel's relationship with Stephanie. Kills me every time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Plum loco! I like the Plum series and Janet Evanovich is the kind of writer that creates great characters that are quirky, believable and unforgettable. The problem is that quirky can twist into wierd and funny can slide into slapstick while unique can turn into caricatures. It's classic Plum but it's like a rehash of the same old. I enjoyed the book but when I closed it, it didn't leave me with baited breath rather a similar flavor from all the other's I've read. I started the series late so I'm going to begin and the beginning as I've heard great things about the early Plum's. I'm just hoping that the later Plum's still serve up the hilarious with a healthy dose of fresh that moves Stephanie forward rather than running on the hamster wheel for another three hundred pages.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not as good as usual I was disappointed in this novel and can't help but wonder if she is running out of ideas as the characters seemed to lack their usual personality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Laugh Out Loud Fun This is Evanovich's first full length 'between the numbers' Stephanie Plum novel and it was a laugh out loud, fun read. I would recommend you start with the first 'between the numbers' book, Visions of Sugar Plums (followed by Plum Lovin' and Plum Lucky), so you get to know the characters, but you could probably read this on its own without too much confusion. The story itself is stand-alone, you would just miss out at bit on the history between the characters. And of course, I would also recommend the Stephanie Plum 'numbers' books to really get to know the characters (First book in that series is One for the Money, then Two for the Dough, etc. )

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Plum Stupid It's time to move on. Evanovich seems to have run out of ideas. All the same main characters with all the same relationship dynamics with no changes to any. This book in particular stands out as having the most bizarre (stupid) peripheral characters. Has the well run dry? The author certainly needs a new direction for the series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a Great read As usual Janet's book was a fun read. I love the twists and turns she gives her story as well as the wacko family that is included. Don't we all have such family members! I can not wait until her next such book

No toothpaste left in the tube, no toilet paper on the cardboard roll, hot water cuts out halfway through your shower, and someone’s left a monkey on your doorstep. My name is Stephanie Plum, and I’m a bail bonds enforcement agent for Vincent Plum Bail Bonds. I live in a one- bedroom, one- bath, unremarkable apartment in a three- story brick box of a building on the outskirts of Trenton, New Jersey. Usually I live alone with my hamster, Rex, but at eight- thirty this morning, my roommate list was enlarged to include Carl the Monkey. I opened my door to go to work, and there he was. Small brown monkey with long, curled tail, creepy little monkey fingers and toes, crazy, bright monkey eyes, and he was on a leash hooked to my doorknob. A note was attached to his collar. Hi! Remember me? I’m Carl and I belong to Susan Stitch. Susan is on her honeymoon and she knows you’ll take good care of me until she returns. First, let me say that I’ve never wanted a monkey. Second, I barely know Susan Stitch. Third, what the heck am I supposed to do with the little bugger? Twenty minutes later, I parked my Jeep Wrangler in front of the bonds office on Hamilton Avenue. At one time, the Wrangler had been red, but it had seen many lives before it fell into my hands, and now it was far from

About the Author

Janet Evanovich is the author of the Stephanie Plum books, including One for the Money and Sizzling Sixteen, and the Diesel & Tucker series, including Wicked Appetite. Janet studied painting at Douglass College, but that art form never quite fit, and she soon moved on to writing stories. She didn’t have instant success: she collected a big box of rejection letters. As she puts it, “When the box was full I burned the whole damn thing, crammed myself into pantyhose and went to work for a temp agency.” But after a few months of secretarial work, she managed to sell her first novel for $2,000. She immediately quit her job and started working full-time as a writer. After 12 romance novels, she switched to mystery, and created Stephanie Plum. The rest is history. Janet’s favorite exercise is shopping, and her drug of choice is Cheeze Doodles. She and her husband live in New Hampshire, in house with a view of the Connecticut River Valley.
