Portrait In Death is rated 4.75 out of 5 by 4.
After a tip from a reporter, Eve Dallas finds the body of a young woman in a Delancey street dumpster. Just hours before, the news station had mysteriously received a portfolio of professional portraits of the woman. The photos seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary for any pretty young woman starting a modeling career. Except that she wasn''t a model. And that these photos were taken after she had been murdered.

Now Dallas is on the trail of a killer who''s a perfectionist and an artist. He carefully observes and records his victim''s every move. And he has a mission: to own every beautiful young woman''s innocence, to capture her youth and vitality—in one fateful shot...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from News for Roarke in this one Another great installment in Eve's story. All the things that make it a wonderful series are here: Eve's relentless commitment to stand for the dead and bring killers to justice, her continuously expanding love story with Roarke, her battles with Summerset. This time out we learn something about Roarke's past as he goes through something traumatic, and his and Eve's bumbling clumsy attemtps to be good spouses - the "marriage rules" as Eve calls them - are sweet and poignant and endearing and make you love both of them even more for their foibles but their determination to love one another. We get treated to an extra-large helping in the book of the witty banter between Eve and Summerst - who breaks his leg at the start of the book and instead of making Eve's month and going on a 3-week vacation, ends up flat on his back as an invalid where he infuriates her even more than usual [although the genuine caring underneath all the sniping does come through via a sweet scene] The murder is also interesting, and slightly different than the usual killers Eve hunts down. All in all another great read in Eve's continuing story!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from book 16 Nadine Furst, news reporter and ally of Eve Dallas has received the pictures of a beautiful young person posed when dead. Dallas finds the body in a dumpster. Eve is now on the trail of a murderer who believes he can capture his victim's images. He is a perfectionist and every detail of the crime seems to be perfected. The murderer observes and records his victims every move until he can own and record their image for one last time. Eve is ecstatic that Somerset, the butler she loves to hate but loves he takes such good care of Roarke, is going away for 2 weeks. On the morning he is to depart Somerset falls and breaks his leg. Curses!! Trueheart, a rookie cop gets to go undercover and has to save himself from suffering the same fate as the other victims. Roarke finds out about his past. Roarke handles things very differently from Dallas and his finding out and the resolution of his feelings and how Eve goes about helping Roarke deal with his past is very touching. Another great book in the series. After 16 books in the series, the characters continue to develop. The murder in each book takes a back seat to the wonderful way in which these characters interact.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favorite so far! I'm halfway through the series, and this is one of my favorite Eve Dallas so far. Apart from the very good murder investigation plot, I loved the closer look into Roarke's past, his psyche and emotions, Eve's dilemnas and discoveries about her relationship with Roarke. Surprising revelations and intense moments made this book one of my favorite "In Death" so far! Nora Roberts is an amazing storyteller.
