Quicksand is rated 4 out of 5 by 3.

Do you still miss your little Bonnie? This one sentence, spoken by a male voice in anonymous phone call, is all it takes to drag Eve Duncan right back to that horrifying moment years ago when her only daughter vanished without a trace. Since then, Eve’s life has become an obsession to find her daughter’s remains. Only one man—a brilliant, ruthless killer—knows the truth about what happened to Bonnie. But taunting Eve might be his first and last mistake…

For Eve is armed with more than just her talent as a forensic sculptor. She brings with her former Navy SEAL Joe Quinn, an Atlanta detective who will do anything to help Eve put the pain of Bonnie’s death to rest. Even if he has to lie to the woman he cares about the most. And even if this killer wants nothing more than to lure Eve further and further into his swamp of madness…

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quicksand As most of Iris Johansen's books, this one is very very good. An absolute read. If you liked her other books, you'll like this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must! An excellent follow-up on Eve Duncan's stories. Excellent.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from s'okay A light whodunit-type novel with a hint of paranormal thrown in since Megan Blair makes an appearance in this novel. She's the one who can hear the dead. Once again, Eve is on the hunt for her daughter's killer. A psychic is brought in to assist and Eve doesn't want to be anywhere near her as she's been taken in by frauds too many times. However, Megan is the real deal. In my opinion the character Eve is a hyprocrite. After all, she communicates with Bonnie herself so where's her open-mind? This was a quick and simple weekend read in the Eve Duncan series and no, Bonnie has not been found.

CHAPTER ONE SOMEONE WAS WATCHING HIM. Henry Kistle''s hand tightened on the curtain as he looked down, careful to stay hidden from view. There, in the shadow of the elm a short distance down the street, was a tall, thin man. He was talking on a cell phone. Who was he talking to? Who had managed to track him down this time? Don''t be nervous, he told himself. It didn''t matter if one of them had found him. He had occasionally been found before and managed to survive. It was only a matter of removing the immediate threat and then running. But he saw to it that those bastards who made him run were always punished for it when he was safe again. And the immediate threat was standing down there waiting for him to make a mistake. A surge of anger tore through him. It wasn''t fair. He had a right to live and take what ever plea sure he could find in this crap yard of a world. Who was it? A father, brother, a cop? Which one? It didn''t matter. He''d find out. But he had to be ready to go. Grab a few clothes. Pack his guns, his precious memory box, and have everything in the car. He turned away from the window. Damn him. He didn''t want to have to run now. He hadn''t had his fill yet of this small, sleepy town. Cities were safer, but pitting his wits against these yokels was exciting. They felt so safe that he could walk into their lives and take what ever he pleased. Oh, well, there would be another time. Another town. Another child... Yes, another child...
