The sequel you’ve been waiting for: the follow-up to the sensational #1 bestseller The Devil Wears Prada.

Almost a decade has passed since Andy Sachs quit the job “a million girls would die for” working for Miranda Priestly at Runway magazine—a dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Andy and Emily, her former nemesis and co-assistant, have since joined forces to start a high-end bridal magazine. The Plunge has quickly become required reading for the young and stylish. Now they get to call all the shots: Andy writes and travels to her heart’s content; Emily plans parties and secures advertising like a seasoned pro. Even better, Andy has met the love of her life. Max Harrison, scion of a storied media family, is confident, successful, and drop-dead gorgeous. Their wedding will be splashed across all the society pages as their friends and family gather to toast the glowing couple. Andy Sachs is on top of the world. But karma’s a bitch. The morning of her wedding, Andy can’t shake the past. And when she discovers a secret letter with crushing implications, her wedding-day jitters turn to cold dread. Andy realizes that nothing—not her husband, nor her beloved career—is as it seems. She never suspected that her efforts to build a bright new life would lead her back to the darkness she barely escaped ten years ago—and directly into the path of the devil herself...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Snoozefest I was so bored trying to get through this predictable book and kept waiting for the "revenge". I was so thoroughly disappointed with the whole book, I just felt that I wanted my money back. Yuck!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from REVISITING ANDY, ET AL More than 10 years after Andy threw her cell phone into the fountain in Paris and told Miranda Priestly to **** off, she is back and publishing her own magazine. Even more surprising is that her arch-nemesis Emily has become her best friend and business partner. Things are going swimmingly for Andy … after a few hiccups she is married … although unexpected, she has a baby on the way and the magazine is doing well. Until – dumm-da-dumm – Miranda Priestly steps back into the picture. This could have been such a good sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. All the elements were available to make this a wonderful story but Ms. Weisberger changed Andy’s “voice” so much that I could feel no happiness, compassion or outrage for her as she was going through her life in this book. Andy just seemed beaten down by the most mundane everyday things and whined throughout the whole book. I kept turning the pages and reading on in hopes of finding the strong independent young woman from the first book, but unfortunately never did. I’m sure the planned movie version will be great (if they reassemble the original cast) but, for me, the book fell short.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please don't waste your time or money This book was seriously disappointing. I loved the first one and eagerly awaited the sequel. In the end, what I read was terribly written, the characters were unsympathetic and their behaviours never made any sense. And worst of all, I was bored!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not great I liked this book but it wasn't amazing. For me, it's one of those novels that when you get to the end you think: Oh, okay, is that all? Although the author did make a huge effort to give a memorable ending that you may not have predicted, in the end there were so many plot points that basically fizzled into nothing or had a lacklustre conclusion. I would have thought that the plot could have been much more interesting. The book is full of messy, complicated relationships and friendships and I felt like Andy didn't make sensible decisions to communicate with people around her and improve her happiness- she allowed hard times to just come and hit her and she never even tried to do anything about it other than run away from her issues and the people involved. The book was well-written and fun to read, I love the author's writing style, but the story and the plot were definitely disappointing. Miranda Priestly and Emily are both back in Andy's life, but don't expect anything too juicy or exciting. They're just....there. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this to a friend, but it's not a bad read if you're curious what's happened to Andy since the first novel. It starts really great and really got my interest about what was going to happen, but nothing really came of the most interesting parts of the beginning. Andy floats through the book without doing or saying much or finding much happiness in these chapters.

About the Book

The sequel to the sensational #1 bestseller "The Devil Wears Prada." Eight years have passed since Andrea "Andy" Sachs quit working for "Runway Magazine"--a dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Now Andy's on the top of the world as an editor: but she's still haunted by the specter of her former boss.

Read from the Book

chapter 1 as long as she lived The rain fell in sideways sheets, cold and relentless, the winds whipping it in every direction, making an umbrella, slicker, and rain boots nearly useless. Not that Andy had any of those things. Her two-hundred-dollar Burberry umbrella had refused to open and finally snapped when she tried to force it; the cropped rabbit jacket with the oversize collar and no hood cinched fabulously around her waist but did nothing to stop the bone-chilling cold; and the brand-new stacked suede Prada pumps cheered her with their poppy fuchsia color but left the better part of her foot exposed. Even her skinny leggings left her legs feeling naked, the wind making the leather feel as protective as a pair of a silk stockings. Already the fifteen inches that had blanketed New York were beginning to melt into a slushy gray mess, and Andy wished for the thousandth time that she lived anywhere but here. As if to punctuate her thought, a taxi barreled through a yellow light and blared its horn at Andy, who had committed the grievous crime of trying to cross the street. She restrained herself from offering him the finger-everyone was armed these days - and instead gritted her teeth and hurled mental curses his way. Considering the size of her heels, she made decent progress for the next two or three blocks. Fifty-Second, Fifty-Third, Fifty-Fourth . . . it wasn't too far now, and at least she'd have a moment or two to warm up before beginning the race back to the office.
