Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Guardian! I enjoyed reading Sailor Moon. The characters are relatable and the overall theme of the story is quite intriguing! I think maybe my expectations for this one were a little high so I wasn't "over the moon"(haha, pun intended) about this one. At times I found my self re-reading parts because I was a bit confused but I guess the rest of the books will sort of explain everything. I think this book is easily likeable, so it can be read by a wide range of people as long as you have a little imagination and like a good anime/manga story :) This wasn't my favourite graphic novel, but I may check out the others just so I can understand the plot a bit more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nostalgic Awesome When I was in Japan in 2008 I was very lucky to pick up an original copy of Sailormoon Volume 1 in Japanese and it is one of my prized possessions. When I got home I was so mad at myself for not getting the rest of the series especially since Manga in Japan is about $4.50 Canadian a piece! So when I found out that Chapters would be releasing them one at I time I couldn't be more excited! Like most Manga it is never directly the same as the Anime which is perfectly fine because I find that I like the Manga version much more especially the romance between Usagi and Mamoru :D It's soo cute. I think whether you are new to the series or trying to rekindle that nostalgic love for something you loved when you were a kid I would highly recommend it. Also, Since Chapter's is only releasing one two months at a time, it's like feeling the same excitement when you are waiting for the next book in a series to come out! It's great for all book lovers even those who might not read a lot of Manga. :D A must have!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sailor Moon 1 I've been a huge Sailor Moon fan since I was a kid, however I had never before got the chance to read the manga. It is awesome! I loved the anime but the manga does take out a lot of the fillers which is a nice change. On the downside some of the translations from the anime are not the same as in the manga. For example: in the anime Sailor Moon = Meatball head, while in the manga she is known as Bun head. These are only small changes and are easy to live with. So go pick it up right away! It isn't even that expensive! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WHAT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED I first saw Sailor Moon in 1991 while on a trip in Japan when I was only about 6 years old. Ever since then I've been a MAJOR fan. However, for years on end they never seemed to want to release the manga or anime of this series properly here in North America. I just got my copy today and my friend owns the Japanese copies. We compared them and the translations are to perfection. No changes and all wonderfully released. This is honestly how the manga should have been released many years ago to begin with. Very happy with this, and I have now preordered the other volumes from my local store. Also, Codename Sailor V (prequel about Venus) is also available as well. I recommend these ones all for sure to ALL the old fans like me, and even to people looking for a great manga to get hooked on. Btw, there's 12 Volumes in total of Sailor Moon, and 2 of Codename Sailor V.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love it! hi, i preordered it and got it early. i have to say, this book is great, and it is a little different then the show, i guess the show had a lot of fillers, cause, i could be wrong, but sailor mercury came in at about episode 4 or 5 and in the book she came in at chapter 2, so i guess the show has alot of fillers. and they also have parts in here thats not in the show(which i loved!) you need to buy this book!

Editorial Reviews

"With its whimsical sense of fashion, thrilling adventure and complex backstory, Sailor Moon was like little else young girls had ever before seen on television, and miles above anything American animators were offering them. The anime led to interest in the manga, which in turn became the sort of success that made the bookstore market sit up and take notice. Scratch a modern-day manga fangirl, and you''re likely to find someone who watched Sailor Moon when she was young." -The Comics Journal
