About the Author

SAUL BELLOW (1915–2005) won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1976. NORMAN MANEA won the Nelly Sachs Prize and a MacArthur Grant. He teaches at Bard College. His books include The Hooligan’s Return, The Lair and On Clowns: The Dictator and the Artist.
