About the Author

Elizabeth Peters is the pseudonym for Barbara Mertz, who graduated from the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute with a Ph. D. in Egyptology. Peters has created three strong female characters, each of whom is featured in their own series of books: Victorian Egyptologist Amelia Peabody, art historian Vicky Bliss, and librarian/romance novelist Jacqueline Kirby. She also writes under the name of Barbara Michaels, and each pseudonym has produced about a book a year for a decade and a half. She has published three nonfiction books and scholarly articles under her true name.
