I''ve experienced a whole lot the last few years and I have a lot to share. So I hope that you''ll take a moment to sit back, relax and enjoy the words I''ve put together for you in this book. I think you''ll find I''ve left no stone unturned, no door unopened, no window unbroken, no rug unvacuumed, no ivories untickled. What I''m saying is, let us begin, shall we?

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Funny Funny The book cover is so fantastically funny, I am so looking forward to getting to the book itself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ranges from Hilarious to Just Silly I like Ellen, and I could hear her voice in my head the whole time I was reading this, which made it funnier, I think, because I took her monologue in the right spirit. My teenaged daughters on the other hand, mostly did not get her sense of humour. I told them to pretend Dory from Finding Nemo was reading it to them, but it still didn't work. Some of the randomness and just sheer nonsensical humour threw them off, so I ended up marking chapters they should read because I thought they would appeal to them. I guess Ellen's attempt to have something for everyone meant that there were parts that weren't for everyone, too. But I appreciated her attempt to convey her words of wisdom with a humourous slant because that usually makes people take the advice better, and I happen to agree with her view of life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Funny! This book is great if you need a little laugh or just a humorous book. It doesn't stick to one topic, she does talk about many different things as it is an autobiography but it is worth reading! You will get a giggle or two out of this book! I highly recommend this book!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great summer read Back in April one of the ladies in my favourite Goodreads group read this book and highly recommended it to the rest of us and since I'm already a huge fan of Ellen (who isn't?!) I immediately put it on hold and read it the same day I got it from the library. The book is everything I expected it to be; entertaining! I honestly think there was a smile on my face the whole time I read this book she's just that funny. At the time I was reading it I had been in a bit of a grumpy mood so I figured why not remedy that with a little does of Ellen? She always cheers me up and let me tell you I wasn't disappointed. I went to be that night feeling a lot better. I suppose people are right sometimes when they say that laughter is the best medicine. I loved how she approached this book in typical Ellen fashion. She didn't take herself to seriously and without ego which I absolutely love about her. She's candid and open about her life and she comes across as wacky as she does on her show. I love how she took the time to catch the readers up on her life since her previous book was published. I would without a doubt have no problem recommending this to anybody and if you're a fan of Ellen's or are looking for a great warm, light-hearted and funny read this might just be the book for you. She writes it in a way that will lift you up so don't read it if you're looking for a book that's deep because this is written in the essence that is Ellen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laughing Fest Ellen Degeneres is the only person in this entire world who can constantly self promote herself without looking or sounding self centre. Ms. Degeneres happy, carefree, determine and funny personality always shine through with whatever project she doing. Whether that is hosting her talk show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, or writing her own humorous novel. Ellen's goal has always been to make other smile and that is no different with her novels (she already has three under her belt). In Seriously...I'm Kiding she takes something serious as her own life and turns into a humorous adventure.Unlike other books she doesn't have a dramatic beginning and climax. No! She just writes about random things (or thoughts) in her life. It's one giant laugh fest. Or a better way of putting it: It's her talk show in book format. As I read this book I could not help but feel Ellen Degeneres was sitting in my living room beside me. She was right there. Beside me. Talking as if I were her best friend. She may be a celebrity but Ellen's genuine self always shine through. Ellen Degeneres is loveable and whether your reading her book or watching her show you cannot help but feel as if she is your next door neighbour. She motivates her readers and audience to another level. I, as a reader, could not help but feel refresh after reading this book. This was an awesome read. I did not once get dulled by it and finished it within a few hours. Lately, since returning from Taiwan, I have been in a reading funk. However after reading this novel I am motivated to read again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wasn't What I Expected I must say, this book did make me smile a lot. It's a light, fluffy read and very random at times. There wasn't a consistent theme throughout the book, and personally I would've liked to get more out of it than I did. Nonetheless, it's a happy read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful read! I love Ellen. I really enjoyed her previous book The Funny Thing Is … and this one was no exception. In Seriously … I’m Kidding, Ellen talks about her marriage to Portia, and intersperses a few short chapters and funny essays. I wouldn’t say that I laughed through the entire book–perhaps it was because I read it in one sitting. Maybe if I had come back and read a few stories each day, I would have found them more humorous. I found myself smiling throughout the entire book, but there were really only a few laugh out loud moments for me (seriously, the story about Portia and the soap had tears in my eyes!). The thing I love about Ellen is her positivity. That’s the reason I smiled throughout the whole book – it’s hard not to stay positive while reading it. Much like the Awesome books, Ellen’s books have the ability to turn your bad day upside down. While not as good as her previous efforts, I still believe that Seriously … I’m Kidding is worthy of any bookshelf, just for those days when you need a pick me up. Ellen has such a great gift of comedy that it’s hard not to like and recommend everything she does. I may “read” this again as an audiobook. I enjoyed the last one so much that I’m sure this one would be just as great in another form.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hilarious! I really didn't know what to expect when i bought this book but chapters had a good sale so i said why not but i was not disappointed! I often found myself laughing out loud and after finishing it in a day as soon as i get paid i'm going out to get her other books! If you want something light and fun don't hesitate!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laugh Out Loud Funny! This is the first book that actually made me laugh out loud. Everytime I did, I had to tell my mom about what it was that made me laugh. I called her at work 6 times once. That eventually had to stop so I just told her everything when she got home. While I was reading it, I could picture Ellen saying what she had written , and now I feel like we're best friends. aha. It's definitely a positive book, and it's one that I'm going to bring with me everywhere so when I need a good laugh, I always have one handy.
