Lorna Rafferty is up to her eyeballs in debt and can’t stop her addiction to eBay. Sandra Vanderslice, battling agoraphobia, pays her shoe bills by working as a phone-sex operator. Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from excellent for a light summer read The title of this book really drew me in. I didn't have very high expectations as the story sounded a little weak, but I just had to try and read it. I was pleasantly suprised with how smart this book was! I felt all the characters were really well-rounded and relateable with many different sides to them. I cannot wait to read more from Beth Harbison!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Read...with Shoes! Chick-lit fans will definitely enjoy this novel! It was a cute, fun chick-lit book about four women, who at first glance seem to have very little in common, but come together because of their love for shoes. The women have extremely different lives (from a politician's wife to a nanny) and extremely different problems, but each of them had aspects of their lives or personal problems that I could (and I think most women will) relate to. The ending did not tie up the stories of the girls but I suspect this was planned as there is now a sequel to this book, Secrets of a Shoe Addict, which came out in July 2009. Planning on picking that one up soon :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from meh So basically, it was an interesting idea, intriguing concept for chick lit and then it just went no where. The ending wasn't conclusive, the characters were wacky but severely lacking in development or likability. I kept reading in hopes that it'd get better, it didn't. The ideas were all there and they were great, but the book just turned out to be a total blah.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shoe Addicts Anonymous If you are a fan of the Shopaholic & Sex and the City series you will love Shoe Addicts Anonymous & its sequel Secrets of a Show Addict by Beth Harbison. These books will keep you laughing in disbelief at the mess these ladies find themselves in. From a series of blind dates that really go wrong, to operating a profitable phone sex operation to tailing a private detective, these ladies really take the cake. It's real women trying to find themselves through support of their friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Read I loved this book! Makes for a great beach/escapist read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great beach read This book is a cross between Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Nanny Diaries and Sex and the City. I enjoyed all of the characters, they all come from different backgrounds and jobs. The main character has an obsession with footwear and finds herself financially challenged. She decides to form a weekly support group for people like her, 'shoes addicts anonymous'. This book is really enjoyable, a great beach read. I read it in one sitting. I will be reading the sequel soon.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good Beach Read I picked up this book for the beach. It wasn't bad. It isn't one of my favorite books, I found the story line a little lacking at times, but I would say this book is worth reading once at least.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from just finished it! I waited for the softcover to come out before buying it. I was so excited to see it on the shelves! Once again I found myself investing so much into the storyline. I really related to the topic & characters & couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend this to other chick lit fanatics!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun book full of shoes!! This is a fun book with interesting women characters from different walks of life bonding together over their love of shoes. They have a lot of problems in their lives, no matter how good their life may look to other members of the group. They help each other get more shoes, plus deal with all of lifes problems. This was fun and I'd definitely recommend it as a fun, light read. I'd probably wait for the softcover before buying it though, it is such a quick read.

Read from the Book

Chapter 1 Sex in a box. That’s what it was. Spine-tingling, heart-stopping, decadent sex in a box.         Lorna Rafferty pushed the tissue aside, and the heady smell of leather filled her nostrils, sending a familiar tingle straight through her core. The feeling—this thrill—never got old, no matter how many times she went through the ritual. She touched the tightly stitched leather and smiled. She couldn’t help it. This was wicked pleasure at its sensuous, tactile, hedonistic best. It made her skin prickle from head to toe. She ran her fingertips along the smooth surface, skidding over the graceful arch, like a cat stretching under the midday sun; she smiled at the sharp but satisfying prick of the spike. Yes. Yesss. This was hot. She knew it was wrong, of course. Twelve years in Catholic school hadn’t been for nothing: she’d pay the price for this indulgence later. Well, hell, she’d been planning on that for years. That debt was going to have to get in line with a lot of others. In the meantime, Lorna had these peep-toe ankle-strap Delman platform sandals to comfort her. She could walk right into the fires of hell if she had to, in shoes to die for. One of the only things she could remember about her mother was her shoes. Black-and-white spectators. Little pink sandals with kitten heels. And Lorna’s favorites: long, slim satin shoes, with heels like narrow art deco commas, and tiny bows
