Rated 5 out of 5 by from Learned more in a week than I did in the last 29.. This book is the greatest female reproductive book ever written. Every woman in the world should have this book next to their beds. It doesn't matter if you are 19 or 69 this book will have something in it for you. It takes you from the beginning to end of the female reproductive system and even helps us understand a little more about men too. I recommend this book to all woman, but especially to those who are thinking of starting a family in the next couple of years. You will be amazed what you just didn't know about your body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny We have been trying for a couple months now to have a baby, there is sooo much information online that is misleading and so difficult to understand. I bought this book because so many other women were recommending it. I am almost done reading it and started yesterday, it makes everything seem so clear. I cannot believe that so many people turn to the unatural before trying to simply give this book a chance, it makes sense that your body is giving you signals everyday, but after reading this book you know what they mean. I hope to have news of a new edition to our family really soon and believe after reading this wonderful book that we will.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must-Read for all Women Just read it. Whether you are trying to get pregnant or trying NOT to, this book will reveal a world of knowledge about your cycle and your body that has been sitting in front of your face all along. Most women think they understand their cycles but the fact is, most don't. I've passed this book along to 3 friends and trust me, if you have time to take the pill every day, you have time to follow Weschler's simple guidelines to Taking Charge of your Fertility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tool for any couple starting a family !! When I told a good friend of mine that my husband and I were ready to start our family she told me to pick up this book as it will help to avoid possible months of disappointment because we aren't hitting the right time in our cycle. She said after 5 months of trying with no results she and her husband decided to pick up this book, read it and used the theories... the outcome... they are now pregnant and due May 2005. We took her suggestion and after reading the book both my husband and I felt empowered and began thinking of the process as less of a roll of the dice and had a mind set that we can acheive our pregnancy goals on our schedule. We highly recommend this to anyone who has decided to start a family or who is even just beginning to think about it. I am so thankful to my friend for her recommendation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything you want to know about your body My husband and I have been trying for a baby for a little while, and I have bought a couple of other books, plus I have read every major website about pregnancy, but none of them explains better than this excellent-written book! This doesn't only tell you how to maximize the chance of pregnancy in details, but also basic yet fundamental information about women's body. I wish I had bought this and read it long time ago, but I'm glad I have read it now. I know my body so well that it's fun to see the changes in every cycle. Like other ladies commented, this is a must-have textbook for all women, whether or not you are planning to get pregnant, and something we should've been taught at school!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for Women of All Ages The information in this book should become part of the legacy a mother passes to her daughter when she enters menarche!! I initially read it for information on fertility, but I found the information even more helpful for putting to rest hidden fears about potential 'symptoms' of illness - all of which turned out to be a natural part of my cycle!! Every woman should develop an understanding about her body and her cycle and this book will help everything make sense - something which very few physiology courses or even most doctors can help you with. Since reading this book I have used the information to both help achieve (1st month of trying) and avoid pregnancy (several months now). We are currently using FAM to try again and I have every confidence that it will work this time as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have For All Women After reading Toni Weschler's book, I became pregnant with my first child within a couple of months. We had been trying for a year. I've just found out #2 is on the way -- first try -- all thanks to Weschler's teachings. Even if you're not trying to get pregnant, this book contains information all women should know. Contrary to what your old, male doctor might think, all women are not the same and our cycles aren't all the same either. If you are trying to get pregnant, she gives you the tools to do so -- with success. She suggests simple, practical advice about when to suspect problems bigger than poor timing. She also gives you the knowledge and information you need to take to your doctor once you've determined there may be an issue. I could rave on and on. The book is fantastic!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A one-of-a-kind guide! Toni Weschler does a terrific job of explaining how a woman's fertility signs vary over the course of her menstrual cycle. She teaches you how to monitor the quality and quantity of your cervical mucus, the position of your cervix, and your basal body temperature (your temperature first thing in the morning) in order to increase your chances of avoiding or achieving a pregnancy. Every young woman should be given a copy of this book when she enters puberty. It's need-to-know information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Absolute MUST read for all women! This book should be entitled Things Your Mom Should Have Told You BUT Didn't Know How. This book goes through some very basic concepts for understanding how each individual female's reproductive system functions. It breaks the myths that all women are the same and that their cycles and experiences are the same. Toni goes through chapter by chapter explaining how to identify fertility signs so that you can achieve or avoid pregnancy. There are also chapters dedicated to helping women identify any potential problems or reproductive illnesses. I would recommend this book to any women who is thinking about becoming pregnant or planning on avoiding pregnancy with natural family planning. A must read for every woman!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The sex-ed I never recieved! I never got this book until after I was married and pregant. I borrowed it from a friend. I need to get my own copy! I learned stuff about my body that I never even dreamed about. Things that my husband knew and assumed that I did too. Because I am still breastfeeding, the charting is more difficult, but I can't wait to start. I totally believe that charting together will strengthen my relationship with my husband! I recommend this book to every women and I hope that couples will read it together. Men always seem to complain that they don't understand us; well, here's a book that will explain it all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every girl should have this book! I wish I'd read this book when I was 13. I've learned so much from it! After using the charts for a few months, I got pregnant on the first try, so we were able to plan the timing of our pregnancy. I have recommended this book both to women who are trying to get pregnant, and to those who are trying not to. It should be required reading for everyone - especially doctors!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from don't lose hope My wife and I had been trying for 3 years and after getting this book from a friend we acheived our goal in only 3 months. We've found this to be the resource that the medical community is not. We were able to get pregnant naturally, when the fertility clinic said that only "alternative" measures would be possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book is incredible! A few years back, I was diagnosed with a fertility problem. After reading the book, I felt so much more informed and knowledgable about how my body worked! My mother and I were having a discussion, and I told her what I had learned. She tells everyone about this book, and how I now know more than she does. I wish she had had this book when I started puberty, it all would have made so much more sense! I fully intend on passing this book on if I have a daughter, and if I don't, I'll pass it on to a niece, or daughter-in-law. The pictures are excellent, and Toni Weschler explains it all so straight forward. Every woman should have this book, regardless of whether they are trying to conceive, or prevent, just so they can know more about how we work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pregnant Forget Naomi Wolfe, this is the most empowering book for women that I have ever read. Did you know that menstruation is only half the story? And, once you know what to look for, the other half is so obvious! Fertility signs? HA! More like fertility billboards. Toni Weschler's book not only unraveled the mysteries of my own body, but helped me achieve pregnancy after only two months! Had I tried to conceive on Day 14 as commonly recommended by doctors, I would have never achieved pregnancy with my 24-day cycle! Imagine the stress and self doubt I would have had to endure? Thank you Toni for saving me from that! This comprehensive book states the facts clearly and concisely. While the table for tracking your cycle looks complicated, after reading only a few chapters, I was able to keep track without problems. I recommend a thorough read of at least the first half, and keeping the book on hand for reference. Whether or not you are trying to achieve pregnancy, you deserve to know these facts about your body. And shame on those doctors and sex educators who withheld this information from us for so long!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! I have to agree this book should be a staple in health classes in schools. There is so much information in here about the female body that you just don't get from teachers or parents. I know now that what my body does is normal. It's an easy read and one thing that I really like is how page numbers are noted so you can go back to something that was mentioned in an earlier chapter. I highly recommmend it. Two thumbs up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Book! I read this book back in 1996 when I was trying to conceive. By reading it I was able to find out that my cycles were very irregular (and show that to a doctor with a graphed temperature chart), get treatment for my irregular ovulation, and then track my "regular" cycles, AND know I was pregnant so early on in my pregnancy, that when I got a blood test done to confirm the pregnancy, I was told I was 2 days pregnant!!! I can't recommend this book enough for all women! (P.S. I had a healthy daughter 9 months later!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taking charge of the frustration After 1 1/2 years of trying for a baby, my frustration levels have been at maximum. However, after spending an evening reading this book, I now feel there is hope. Even if I don't conceive right away, I'll have enough knowledge of my body and its cycles to help my doctor help me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WE DID IT ON THE FIRST TRY You can see my original review when I finished reading the book earlier. Now a cycle and a half later... we're pregnant! I finished charting the cycle I was in and in the next cycle I knew exactly the five days I was fertile. We got pregnant on the FIRST try!!! What a wonderful book!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get this book!!!! If only my doctor could have explained how my cycle works as well as this book did! I highly recommend that every woman get their hands on this book! Information is a powerful tool, and this book explains things beautifully! Read it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderfully Written and Knowledgeable This book was so well written and true. I went through this book going "so that's what that is!" "Wow, I felt that!" "That's me". I tell you I got this book because I wish to try to get pregnant and it certainly gave me the tools and knowledge necessary. (It also gives information on all other stages of life including avoiding preganacy naturally). I think this should be a staple in "health class" in school. Do your child a favor and give her a copy. It didn't talk about the AVERAGE WOMAN. It talked about all the different possiblities so that I can say "It talked about me and I am normal even though my cycle varies alot." I wish I had found this book sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taking Charge Of Your Fertility This is a wonderful book. The Bible of the woman's body. It doesn't matter if you are trying to get pregnant or trying to avoid pregnancy. It doesn't matter if you have just started your period or if your 50 yrs old. You will learn from this book. I had borrowed it from the local library but decided to buy it because it is so great. I have recommended this book to friends and relatives, and when they have read it, they agree it is a must book for every home a female lives in. It is truly and A++ book.
