Hidden somewhere, in nearly every major city in the world, is an underground seduction lair. And in these lairs, men trade the most devastatingly effective techniques ever invented to charm women. This is not fiction. These men really exist. They live together in houses known as Projects. And Neil Strauss, the bestselling author, spent two years living among them, using the pseudonym Style to protect his real-life identity. The result is one of the most explosive and controversial books of the year -- guaranteed to change the lives of men and transform the way women understand the opposite sex forever.

On his journey from AFC (average frustrated chump) to PUA (pick-up artist) to PUG (pick-up guru), Strauss not only shares scores of original seduction techniques but also has unforgettable encounters with the likes of Tom Cruise, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Heidi Fleiss, and Courtney Love. And then things really start to get strange -- and passions lead to betrayals lead to violence. The Game is the story of one man's transformation from frog to prince -- to prisoner in the most unforgettable book of the year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVED IT! When i read this it changed my whole thinking process. I am more social thanks to this book, i strongly recommend this book to shy people. I used to be super shy , as in i wouldn't even ask a store employee for help, after this book i can talk to anyone!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Every guy should read--laugh--then forget all of it!! I'm engaged and extremely happy... I bought this book for a couple of reasons: I knew I 'd enjoy the humour (a friend of mine read this and recommended it) and I was looking forward to the characters. If you picked up this book to learn some magical secret on how to pick up women...you're in big trouble. It does touch on one thing though, confidence (not arrogance) is everything. It was definitely funny (not for the reasons the author intended). I found the style strong and it had an easy groove; like talking to a cool friend. Most of the stories reminded me of my years just out of high school...man was I that much of an idiot? Fun times though! I gave this book 3 stars because I truly liked it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from changed my life b4 I read this book I was a 21 year old virgin who never had a girlfriend and was crippled with fear when it came to approaching or starting a conversation with a woman that I didn't know. Especially If I found her attractive. This is no longer the case and I have become a much more confident person. If you feel like I felt, read this book. To change your life you have to address the limiting beliefs that are holding you back from what you wish to accomplish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Just for Men I picked this book up because I refused to believe that such a society existed. Unfortunately ladies, it does. Just Google "Mystery Method" and you'll see all too clearly that at least that part of the story is for real. I bounced back and forth between moral indignation (because yes, the book is essentially chronicling Pick up artists getting women in bed), out right disbelief and admiration (because Strauss' writing style is just wonderful to read). At the end of the book, I came out loving it. It was really really funny. And it offers fair warning to women everywhere about the literal Games that men play (and they always try pinning it on us... Ha!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply life changing I was browsing the shelves when I saw this black leather book that seemed to just stick out. It captivated me from page one. After reading it in two days, and rereading it in another three, it has changed my perspective on social interactions, social and motivational psychology. I wish we took this book in University. Yes it's that good and chalk full of information yet it presents the material in a way that everyone can relate (both men and women). It is a must have for anyone who's had to deal with other people so unless you live in a cave I suggest picking up this book ASAP.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adressing the issue of social ineptness. Before I actually bought the book, I read the first few chapters of it on the internet, thinking, "a formula to getting laid? Ridiculous!" However when I did read those few chapters, it wasn't any formula or strategies that led me to buy the book. It was the humor and depiction in what plague a major part of the male population today. Social ineptness. I loved Strauss' take on the fact that most men simply have no idea how to talk to women, and the few that do have the gift, work in mysterious ways, leaving one such socially inept man no possible way to learn do as they do. After reading the book, I still have some doubts about the truth of it all, about whether or not picking up women at clubs work that way. However, the point of the book is not about learning pick up techniques, it's about the life and times of men who are simply terrible with women learning to find ways to become casanovas and finding things out about themselves and each other along the way. Neil Strauss did a great job in using humor and wits to tell the story. I would recommend it to those who are mature enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wow. There's a whole world which I never knew existed prior to reading this book... now that I've read it/am reading it, it's opened up some possibilities. Lots of other information on the topic, although I advise to stay away from anything Jeffries related. The take on characters is simply brilliant, they're all making up for childhood attention lacking in their lives, and are unmistakably tortured by their past yet compensating in other areas. A must read. And it works. The information, the ideas, they seem like a farce, yet they actually work like they discuss. You need to adapt them to your own personality / life, but they WILL work. Be true to yourself, but adapt these methods, make them your own, and you'll find success. Simply amazing. Buy it online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ... from a new angle It was initially supposed to be a warning. Protect youself he told me :) So I looked into it. I started reading, and by page 30 I was already recommending it to anyone who would listen. It really is a great story, and if you took from it what I took, you will definitely develop a broader perspective on social interactions. The vulnerability is real, the success... unreal. Do I think negatively of such an organization? Well lets just say if Neil can inspire confidence and lead by example, this could be the best thing that ever happened to a man (or woman). Very well written and definitely worth reading for the entertainment if not for anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game So, one day about six months ago I was bored, not feeling so hot, flipping through the channels (which was strange because I rarely watch T.V.) and I received a phone call. I answered, had a little chat with a buddy and then flopped back down on the couch. I saw this dorky looking bald dude who I initially prejudged as gay, being interrogated by the less than appealing (to be kind) hostesses of The View . I immediately flipped to another channel, but something...I don't know what it was...a force...a cosmic convergence...synchronicity... fate ... a compulsion from deep inside me, or maybe just plain boredom drew me back to that wretched television program. So I listened to this dorky little guy and he's trapped there between Star Jones and one of the other annoying four hostesses (Gayle or Judy or whoever) and he's talking about being a pick up artist and how successful it‘s made his life. Skeptical though I was, funnily enough, he seemed to really know what he was talking about. He’s confident and his content seemed strangely appealing. I watched until the end of the segment, oddly amused and then that same strange something inside me compelled me to write down the name of his book he was promoting. “The Game”. I had been charmed. A few days later I strolled down to my local book store and I saw it in the new releases section. It’s thick like a story and bound like a bible. I got home and sat down and, placing my copy of Nietzsche’s “Thus Spake Zarathustra” aside, I cracked open the tome. I read…I read again…and I just picked up “Zarathustra” again this week. Since reading “The Game”, I’ve done research into resources I never could have guessed existed, my game has increased not only on an external level, but on an extreme internal level. These days, not only do I feel hot, I AM, and I know it! This is not a guide on how to pick up girls (though we can all hope that’ll be Strauss’ next contribution to the literary world! If not the realm of PUA) This is not a self help book. It’s a story book. It’s a true story book and it’s a total page turner. Not only is Strauss a great Pick Up Artist, he’s a great Writer! His story is compelling and most likely appealing to every average human male ever! (probably females too). I never thought I’d say anything like this to my heart, but “Thank God for Star Jones and Gayle or Judy or whoever!” “When Zarathustra was alone, however, he said to his heart: ‘Could it be possible! This old saint in the forest hath not yet heard of it, that God is dead!’ ”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Addictively informative Right at the beginning, it's important to mention how the book came to my posession. It suited my thirst for knowledge about the taboo, underground industry of seduction and sarging*. To the uninitiated, the novel presents a very entertaining read plotted through the eyes of Neil Strauss, the main character and author. It sets off instantaneously by intruducing Mystery, a Toronto native with a flare that surpasses even the wildest of imaginations. Together, with the main character, the reader is encompasses in a world of sweet talkers, dreamers, chumps and the women that entangle an almost surreal story of hunger, success, failure and drama. The timeline flows effortlessely as the book progresses from Neil's dreams to his accomplishments and successes. It is a joy to read, a pleasure to experience and a privilege to any avid reader. I recommend this book to men and women alike as it reports real issues in a super-craft way, while never letting go of the throttle. So set aside a weekend to enjoy this gem. with much respect, [] wildem []

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing book I was searching around on the internet and cam across this book on a message board somewhere. It was a deep disection of the book. I spent a few hours reading about the book and was hooked. I went out the next day and bought it. It's the best book I've read. I couldn't stop reading it. I was depressed when it was over just because I wanted to read more. Interesting topic. I've signed up to Neil Strauss's mailing list now and am looking into other books of his. This book is a really good read. The stories are good and the writing is excellent. I would highly, and have highly recommended this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very intresting read. I bought this book not as a pick up manual, but for the read. Loved his story, great read for everyone, Not just guys. When I first started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I spent all night reading it. Finished it in 2 days. I even ended up sending Style an email regarding marko's showering problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A glimpse into the mind of a single male I first heard about this book from a magazine in my doctor's office and I was a bit sceptical because everyone is unique and everyone has their own way of doing things so I was very doubtful that their was any single method of meeting women. I've read the book a few times and actually field tested the methods at the 2044 nightclub here in Regina, being nicknamed The Predator in the process by my friends. I could really identify was Neil Strauss was going through when I read this book and I think this book is mainly a story of single males journey to developing a healthy, mature masculine identity and social skills. But on the other hand, I fear for those who do not use the knowledge with a good heart. With NLP, Speed Seduction, and the other books mentioned within this one you could seriously mess with some women's heads. In conclusion, this book is amazing guilde on how to meet and attract the opposite sex. I invite you to e-mail me and tell me what your thoughts are about this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Read The book is more than about the secret underworld of pick-up artists; it is really about the personal transformation of a geek into an attraction magnet. The book reads reads very much like a novel, with an anti-hero named 'Style'. If not for the proviso at the beginning that everything truly happened, it would be hard to believe that these are real people in the story. The story just keeps getting more and more outrageous, and it is quite funny at times too. Once you pick up this book, you won't be able to put it down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eye Opening This was a very eye opening book for me. Having gone through some of the same struggles and experiences in the book, I found it very easy to the relate characters and their situations. I would recommend this book to any guy that has been rejected, put down or is too shy to approach women. True, this book isn’t a “how-to” guide it’s more of an autobiographical journey through this underground society of pickup artists. That’s what sets this book apart from the rest. It puts the techniques used in to perspective. This book is defiantly worth reading. As a side note “The Art of Seduction” And “The 48 Laws of Power”, both by Robert Greene, are great follow up books to The Game if you are interested in Seduction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great fun A really nice read...classic pace to how the story unfolds. This is extremely funny, shocking, informative, degenerate and even tragic at times. You'd be better off getting a true dating book or some NLP book if you are trying to actually meet women. This is the story about the guys who go too far while trying to meet women. Perfect gift for your brother who is getting married LOL
