The Little Prince is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
The Little Prince is a classic tale of equal appeal to children and adults. On one level it is the story of an airman's discovery in the desert of a smally boy from another planet - the Little Prince of the title - and his stories of intergalactic travel, while on the other hand it is a thought-provoking allegory of the human condition. First published in 1943, the year before the author's death in action, this new translation contains Saint-Exupery's delightful illustrations.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless The Little Prince appears to be a story for children, but it is so much more. It’s a profound and deeply moving tale about life and human nature, from a child’s point of view of the world. The simple truths that we forget as we get older. “Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.” No one should have to become a grown-up. I never tire of it. I love it in French but even more in English, désolé Antoine…

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best ever! This was the first book I ever read in French and it's great in English too. A fantastic book that can be enjoyed by children and contains valuable moral parables that are equally appreciated by adults. Get back to your youth and read this with your kids. It is one of the all time greats!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dear to my heart This is a book that is dear to my heart. I might have read it more than five times - both English and Chinese versions. Inspirational with a naive and pure, yet sophisticated touch. The journey of a little prince from an outer planet to visit earth. The encountering of exotic characters and cryptic conversations - all leads us to think deeply on the concept of friendship, life and love. No one should ever miss reading this book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from more than a kids book I'm 28 and this was my first children's book as an adult however I didn't treat it as one.. This book to me was about philosophy of our social life articulated in a simple and pleasant way. The message the book relays is how grown ups complicate and glorify, through self idolization and importance, their existance and behaviour that often the simple purpose of life is forgotten. The writer is letting us know through a child that the most enjoyable things in life are the simplest. By preparing the adults into a child like state of mind he is able to make us understand this fact. I enjoyed it very much and recommend it both kids and grown ups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Amazing This book is not a required read for me, but we are doing the play in school so I decided to read it today. It is so beautiful that I could read it over an over again and get more every time. It really teaches you a lot and preaches the saying; keep it simple, stupid. A beautiful story that is a must read fr anyone that has ever lived

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Magical Book! I was 12 when i first read this book. It was a cute and interesting little fairy tale. The second time I read it, I was 15. I got many of messages out of the book about life this time. It is never boring to read it over and over again. You learn something everytime, and it has the power to heal souls!! What a Magical juvenile book for both juveniles or juvenile-hearted adults!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome book! The first time I read this in grade 10 french, I didn't completely understand it. However, I thought it was cute, and with greater understanding of french and existentialism I read it again. It is such an awesome book and is now one of my favourites! Everyone should read it! Its best in the original french, but a great story that translates well. Even small children will enjoy the story and the cute pictures!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Little Prince This fun and very imaginative fairytale will please children and adults alike. Not only witty and charming, but wonderfully illustrated with a beautifully flowing story. For children, it describes the world they live in, and for adults it beckons us to let our imaginations take hold once in a while. An easy and fun read - I highly recommend it!
