Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Straight goods, sense of humour, love it! This is a fantastic book for parents of school-aged children. Douglas gives practical, straightforward advice on many relevant issues, such as discipline, power struggles, education, nutrition and health, friends, being a positive role model and setting values. She also lists various scenarios for each issue with sensible advice on how to tackle it. Douglas validates a parent's experience with all the good, bad and ugly stuff that crop up in a young kid's life, and does so honestly and with a nice sense of humour. She is never coy or preachy, and her writing style is easy to read. Great appendix at the back listing Canadian resources and websites of interest. A great book and worth every penny.
