Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful-A must read I actually bought this book after a comment by a reviewer on this site. I was blown away. Its a short book which manages to conjure all sorts of emotion. At first glance this book may seem like a simple read, but the content is SO complicated. Cynthia Ozick beautifully gives voice to a tragic story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Will to Live In The Shawl short story Ozik uses vivid, intensely emotional language to movingly portray the will of the human body to survive - sometimes past the point of emotional and spiritual survival. This story made me wonder whether anyone ever really knows in advance of it happening, to what lengths each of us would go if faced with life threatening circumstances? This jarring little story is painful accounting of a personal experience of horror.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing! I read this book for a school project on prejudice relationships. This book was very well written, showed how beeing in a concentration camp really screws someone up. And the main lesson: Keep the truth of your background to yourself, because in the end it may hurt you.
