Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book Hopefully you'll never need to use any of it, but even so, it's a great read, very clear language, compact format. Provides sources, which makes it that much more reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a great gift As a mother of a 12 year old boy, I am always on the look-out for birthday present ideas for my son's friends. This book fits the bill perfectly, they take it quite seriously, and the parents love to cruise thru it too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You never know... One of the most hilarious and original books I've read. The fact that this book really can double as a valid worst-case scenario survival manual is the real joke. Great read, highly recommended, a little on the pricey side, but the amount of laughs I got from this book are priceless. Can't wait for the next one!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very inventive This book is as I said very inventive. With humor and fun the authors put very serious situations into a light of fun. Although I admit many of these the "cures" to these problems or worst case scenario situations "fixes" are far fetched for some of them. For example. When you are in quick sand you reach for the pole which you are carrying. I guess this is all part of the humor. I reccomend this book as a toilet seat reader, fun and imaginative and it could save your life.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Book This was a great book! It had a combination of humour and interesting facts. I now know the proper way to break open a door. Just think where I'd be without knowing that! I did only give it 3 stars because the price was a little steep.

Well if your ever in a situation where you need to know, you will be glad to own this book. Everything you need to know, from surviving a lion attack to delivering a baby in a taxi cab. This book was written in a humorous fashion which makes for enjoyable reading. Leave this book in the bathroom when guests come over! Keep it in your pocket incase of emergency. Like the title implies if your in a "worst-case scenario" this book will help you survive. Enjoy!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from i agree i agree with Chinh. this book was way to short for the price. i didn't find it an interesting read whatsoever. luckily though i got it as a present so i didn't actually have to pay for it.
Date published: 2000-08-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST BOOK EVER This was the best surival book I have ever read!! It showed all sorts of useful things! I loved it. At a fraction of the price of other stores!
Date published: 2000-05-12
Rated 2 out of 5 by from W-C Scenario: Buying this book 3 stars because there weren't enough exotic scenarios. Too many "how to splint a broken leg" situations which can be easily looked up. Took back 1 star because at $22, a 45 min. read is a joke.

Editorial Reviews

Reviews from: Soldier of Fortune USA Today Nearly 180 pages of immediate-action drills for when everything goes to hell in a handbasket "(SOF" editors all keep a copy on their desk at all times). Succinct overviews and pity, practical courses of action from legion experts-in-their-fields, to fight Murphy at least to a draw. Aficionados in some fields might quibble over certain techniques, but for the amount of ground this compact volume covers in dealing with dozens and dozens of worst-case scenarios in common-sense fashion, it''s well worth having. Odds are good you''ll meet more than one of the situation during your life, and the time spent studying this volume may turn out to be some the best time you ever invest. If nothing else, it makes you think out your options beforehand, so you have a plan. Those with deep-seated fears about killer bees, quicksand, mountain lions and sharks will enjoy "The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook" by Joshua Piven and David Borgenicht, a handy little book for the extremely prepared that is climbing the best-seller list.
