"Often sidesplitting, mostly heartbreaking...[Tropper is] a more sincere, insightful version of Nick Hornby, that other master of male psyche." --USA Today

The death of Judd Foxman''s father marks the first time that the entire Foxman clan has congregated in years. There is, however, one conspicuous absence: Judd''s wife, Jen, whose affair with his radio- shock-jock boss has recently become painfully public. Simultaneously mourning the demise of his father and his marriage, Judd joins his dysfunctional family as they reluctantly sit shiva-and spend seven days and nights under the same roof. The week quickly spins out of control as longstanding grudges resurface, secrets are revealed and old passions are reawakened. Then Jen delivers the clincher: she''s pregnant.

This Is Where I Leave You is Jonathan Tropper''s (One Last Thing Before I Go) most accomplished work to date, and a riotously funny, emotionally raw novel about love, marriage, divorce, family, and the ties that bind-whether we like it or not.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommended!! I can't believe how quickly I finished this book! Very funny and very real...the things Judd thought were things we all think but would never admit. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Funny! I believe I began laughing at page 1, then throughout the book; and this is a book about a failed marriage & a 7-day shiva. So...Great insight into relationships between spouses, siblings and parents.
Date published: 2013-04-13
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Weekend Read For those who like a light read peppered with poignant, sad moments, this is a good one. The characters are charming and likable and the story is sweet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Was a fun read I enjoyed this book - there were a lot of good moments in it and some powerful moments - and then some just over the top moments. It was a bit sentimental, as it was about their sitting shiva for their father, but every time it got a little too treacly, a laugh would come along to carry the story forward. I did like the characters and enjoyed meeting them.
