Fantastic book for people who are struggling with debt and not sure how to tackle it. Straight forward and comprehensive. This book is a great motivator to get you started on your way to becoming debt free.

This book is amazing! Easy to read and understand. She doesn't hold back, and you must work hard and do all the "assignments" if you are serious about getting out of debt.

This book is the most amazing book I have ever read!!! It is very easy to understand and totally honest. Gail certainly puts it to the point. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who has any trouble getting your life in check. It just could be the best Christmas gift ever!!!!

Even though I don't carry any debt, this book still had plenty of information that was valuable to me. One area that it made the most positive impact: My partner and I would still have disagreements on how things should be spent. Following the budget structure outlined in the book took any of that arguing away. How to distribute different forms of savings was also immensely helpful. I now know exactly how to set goals, and save for them. It helped give me a much more organized approach. I still read all the chapters concerning paying off debt, for me it was a big cautionary tale of why it is so important to save for things and stay in the black. It has a wealth of information on how to avoid the pitfalls, and plan for stuff that will go wrong. The writing is also lighthearted and funny. You can hear the authors voice in your head as you read it! (You'll know what I mean if you also watch the show "Till Debt") I loved this book so much I also bought a copy for my brother who will be living on his own soon. I think it's a fantastic gift for those just starting out.

I decided to read this book because I love her show Til Debt Do Us Part. Though I do not read books usually. I could not put this one down and was done in a week including the figures. (For me thats amazing) There is alot of math but I love it just use excel it will make your life easier. Gail explains everything in full (That's what I call dumbing it down) .And I realized how much I am really paying twords my debt because the rest was going to interest. She suggests getting out of debt in 3 years and well if you have the $$$ go for it you will pay less in interest. But reality tell me that's not possible. I was able to customize my plan to be debt free in 5. Now that might seem to be a long time but if all I paid was the minimum payments it would have taken 11 years. The end of the book was a little bit boring and some things did not pertain to me but she tries to use humour and doesn't sugar coat anything which made it fun to read. I would reccomend this book to anyone who has debt or who has a shopping habit like I do. Put down the shirt, shoes or whatever your vice is and pick up this book it will change your life.

At first I really didn't enjoy this book. I don't carry much debt but I love reading financial books (there is always something more to be learned) but if I did carry debt I don't know how helpful this book would really be. I did go back through six months of spending and yes I found it interesting to see where my money was going (coffee and books really do add up!) but maybe I am just spoiled and can't wrap my head around the extremes she is suggesting you go to, to be debt free in three years. Life isn't that simple. I did find the end of the book to be very inspirational but it was also a little bit contradictory. At one point she says she doesn't have the best credit score because she pays off everything on her card every month but then in the next part she says the best way to get a great credit score is to use your card and pay it off right away when the bill comes in and it isn't such a great idea to fixate on your credit score because you are supposed to live on your own money not burrowed money. So why is she suggesting everywhere else to maintain a very good credit score?! It was just ok for me.

As usual, Ms. Vaz-Oxlade doesn't hold any punches and is willing to provide the reader with the strong, blunt message that staying in debt is stupid and counter-productive. As with her TV show, she makes herself very clear that it's imperative for each individual to control the money rather than allowing the money to control the individual. For those who aren't able to understand the need to say "NO!" to credit, Ms. Vaz-Oxlade's book lays out a useful and straightforward path toward accomplishing the goal of getting out of debt and staying that way.

This is a great book. It really sounds like it's in Gail's 'voice' and I liked reading it. I also got The Til Debt Do Us Part Life Planner based on Gail's show. It's like a daybook that has lots of good tips on staying debt free and best of all because its a daybook -- I open it every day. Thanks Gail, you've really helped me and my husband!

Most books about money are completely dry and boring but not this. If you've seen til debt do us part you won't be dissappointed by this book. The same great advice in the same no-nonsense and easy to understand way. Totally worth every cent!!

My husband and I watch her all the time. Because of Gail, we are now credit card debt free. The show started a dialogue between us and we've been working together on our finances ever since. The jars are a great idea just to see where all your money is going and how much you are actually wanting to spend on things.
