Only her love could gentle his savage soul—

He was born to a clan of warriors of supernatural strength, but Gavrael McIllioch abandoned his name and his Highland castle, determined to escape the dark fate of his ancestors. Hiding his identity from the relentless rival clan that hunted him, he called himself Grimm to protect the people he cared for, vowing never to acknowledge his love for ravishing Jillian St. Clair. Yet even from afar he watched over her, and when her father sent an urgent summons, "Come for Jillian," he raced to her side—into a competition to win her hand in marriage.

Why had he run from her so many years before? And why return now to see her offered as a prize in her father''s manipulative game? Furious, Jillian vowed never to wed. But Grimm was the man she loved, the one who urged her to marry another. He tried to pretend indifference as she tempted him, but he could not deny the fierce desires that compelled him to abduct her from the altar. She was the only woman who could tame the beast that raged within him—even as deadly enemies plotted to destroy them both....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need a Good Summer Read? This is the Series for you. A more complex book then the first in this series this book focuses on Grimm, Hawk’s best friend, and Jillian a girl from Grimm’s past. Your heart goes out to Grimm as he tries hard to fight what he truly is and also what his heart desires. At the same time you want to cheer for Jillian who isn’t about to let anything deter her from what she wants for more than a few minutes. This story warms your heart. Two stubborn yet loving and wonderful characters make this book even better than book 1.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love These Highlanders This is the second book in the Highlanders series and I loved it I flew through the book and I look forward to the next. This book centers around Grimm who is an awesome character that you heart goes out for and Jillian who is super strong and vulnerable at the same time and all you do is root for the happy ending. This books storyline took a bit of a different angle than the first book did but it still had all the great qualities that the last book had. Overall awesome book and awesome series I look forward to the rest. :0)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A man so hot, even you'll go a lil Berserkers To Tame a Highland Warrior is book 2 in Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series. It packs more heat and a more complex storyline than the first instalment. Book 2 is all about Grimm, who we were introduced to in Beyond the Highland Mist as Hawk’s right hand man. Grimm leads a mysterious life with many secrets from the few people he’s ever come to care about. He’s a godly warrior, surpassing any humanly battling skills along with healing speed and has a seriously messed up past leaving him with some major daddy issues. Like anyone with a big case of daddy issues, Grimm has closed himself off emotionally from any romantic connections out of fear, but that doesn’t mean his primal urges are as controlled as he would like them to be. Grimm’s stubborn and shut off ways are tested when the man, Gibraltar St. Clair, took him in and cared for him, calls on him to return to the lowlands to tend to his daughter, Jillian. Jillian St. Clair has romanticized after Grimm ever since her family took him in, but Grimm fought off any advances she attempted on him and eventually ends up leaving once he feels responsible for putting Jillian and her loving family in harm’s way. Grimm and Jillian are different and very much alike all at the same time. They both fight off their feelings for each other which makes every single interaction intense and emotionally and physically explosive. Now Grimm has to try to overcome his ghostly past and together with the guidance and sometimes unwelcome love of the beautiful and hot tempered Jillian, they try to salvage the promising, but still unstable future. Grimm’s story was a sensual and explosive one. Moning really has a talent for writing captivating couples and, I must say, she really lives up to her name.. “moning” couldn’t be more accurate. I really did love this book more than the first. There were more twists and turns and heated interactions packed full of hot sweet details to keep you warm on even the coldest of these winter nights. The pace was perfectly set and I had a hard time pulling my nose out of this one If you’re looking for one of those larger than life and walking sex type men.. these are the books for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another good read This is the 2nd book in KMM's Highlander series telling Grimm and Jillian's story. There are references to events and characters from the first book, though the story is mostly stand alone and it's not necessary to read them in order.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than the First I seem to have a thing for tortured heroes… I’m sure that is one of the main reasons I’m more drawn to Grimm than I was to the Hawk. I love that Grimm is this lost little soul in a big burly man’s body. I really love that he can only have one true mate his entire life. But I’m getting ahead of myself… “To Tame a Highland Warrior” by Karen Marie Moning is the second book in her ‘Highlander’ series. Although I liked the first book, I really liked this second one. For me, it came down to the characters. I liked Grimm a lot in “Beyond a Highland Mist”, and he did not disappoint in his book. Confused and riddled with guilt, he loves Jillian but can’t bring himself to take her. Jillian has plans of her own for Grimm. She is a spunky and adorable lass. I really enjoyed reading her. And she and Grimm are great together too! I still haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to continue with the series. I really didn’t like Adam Black in the first book, and the rest of the series focuses on him a lot – not to mention that the 6th book is All about him! When I started reading books, I would buy an entire series all at once assuming that I would enjoy it. I don’t do that anymore because I noticed it’s a little bit of a waste of money if you don’t especially like the first couple of books…lol (I’d feel guilty that I have them and don’t read them, so I suck it up and read them anyways. Then I’d notice that I’m not in such a good mood when I’m reading something I really don’t want to be reading…hmm, interesting.) That means I do have all the other ‘Highlander’ books in my book closet. *sigh* I won’t throw them away or anything. They’ll simply lie in wait on the top shelf behind other books in case I ever change my mind about them. As for my quest to discover which ‘Highlander’ characters cross-over into the ‘Fever’ series… I’ll just look them up online!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Hot Men in Kilts! Grimm is the best friend to Hawk. Even though they would fight to the end for each other Grimm has never told Hawk about his past and who he really is. When that past literally comes calling in the form of a summons Grimm must finally face all his demons. Grimm is a berserker. A war machine created by the Viking Gods. Grimm returns to the home of the family that took him in at 16 after his father killed his mother and his families’ people were killed off by invaders. Jillian found him then and he fell head over heels. But it is never to be. With Grimm’s family tradition of madness, Grimm will never give into his feelings for Jillian, to protect Jillian from himself. Jillian has always loved Grimm and was very hurt by how he left her even after she declared her love for him. Jillian is 21 and her father has called three available bachelors to woe his daughter. Jillian still only has eyes for Grimm, and Grimm stills denies his feelings. Jillian takes things into her own hands when she finally realises that Grimm cares deeply and is barely keeping up the pretence. Jillian pushes, and pushes until she finally gets her passionate reward, Grimm. Grimm has been hunted a band of people trying to kill him for being a berserker. After the third attempt on his life Grimm makes the heart wrenching decision to leave Jillian. Jillian’s father puts on a false wedding to bring Grimm back. A berserker only ever has one true mate. Grimm comes for Jillian and they return to his ancestral home to his father. Finding out the truth that Grimm is not a psycho but part of a line of berserker, Grimm comes to know that truth of his family and finally accept himself and his heritage. Only someone takes Jillian and threatens all that he just found. This is the second in Moning Highlander series. It is so good! Hot man in kilt!!! It is quickly becoming a favourite series. Jillian and Grimm are great characters. Jillian is truly a strong willed a determined woman who goes after what she wants and gets it. Grimm maybe more than human, but he is no match for Jillian. Why do men question what women want! With this series there are many twists and turns to keep you guessing. The characters are truly likable. I also really enjoyed that Hawk and Adrienne made appearances in this book to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grimm's story was great! While not as fantastical as the other books in KMM's Highlander series I enjoyed this story. Grimm (Hawk's sidekick in Beyond The Highland Mist) gets a letter saying to come for Jillian, a girl from his past. It turns out Grimm is not the meek/mild friend he seemed to be. He is secretly Gavrael, a highlander of noble blood who happens to be a Berzerker (from what I understood is some kind of Hulk type person). Long ago he ran away from his foster home after the family was attacked by an enemy of his birth father so that the only girl he ever loved would not get hurt. After a summons arrives, Grimm is forced to go back and face the girl he left behind and and the past he ran away from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Finally another good book to add to my collection. Its been a good few months since I found a book that was a pleasure to read and even longer since I've found one in a scottish setting. I couldn't put it down, I loved the characters, the plot and the bit of fantasy woven through the legend of the Berzerkers. Everyone has to read this--and I'm about to order her first book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To Tame a Highland Warrior This is my all time favorite book. The way the author blends fantasy and history together in astounding. I could read this book every day for the rest of my life and never get bored. I like the fact that, for once, the woman initiates the first sexual contact. I like the way the author proves that men can be just as vulnerable as a woman. She proves that the heart is the strongest, most precious thing in the world. This book made me laugh, cry and warmed my heart. It made me believe that the world isn't such a bad place after all and that happy endings do come true. Anything is possible you just have to believe.

Read from the Book

Dalkeith-Upon-the-Sea The Highlands of Scotland 1515 Grimm paused at the open doors of the study and gazed into the night. The reflection of stars dappled the restless ocean, like tiny pinpoints of light cresting the waves. Usually he found the sound of the sea crashing against the rocks soothing, but lately it seemed to incite in him a questing restlessness. As he resumed pacing, he sifted through possible reasons for his unrest and came up empty-handed. It had been by choice that he remained at Dalkeith as captain of the Douglas guard when, two years ago, he and his best friend, Hawk Douglas, left Edinburgh and King James''s service. Grimm adored Hawk''s wife, Adrienne--when she wasn''t trying to marry him off--and he doted upon their young son, Carthian. He had been, if not exactly happy, content. At least until recently. So what ailed him? "You''re wearing holes in my favorite rug with your pacing, Grimm. And the painter will never be able to finish this portrait if you won''t sit down," Adrienne teased, jarring him from his melancholy reverie. Grimm expelled a breath and ran a hand through his thick hair. Absentmindedly he fiddled with a section at his temple, twisting the strands into a plait as he continued to contemplate the sea. "You aren''t looking for a wishing star out there, are you, Grimm?" Hawk Douglas''s black eyes danced with mirth. "Hardly. And anytime your mischievous wife would care to tell me what curse she laid upon me with her c
