Rated 5 out of 5 by from the real part My first Clancy novel, by far the most superior piece of work in the category by ANY writer, made me an avid fan of the writer's work in general, and of the Ryan series in particular. John Clark has become almost an ideal fiction figure, somehow even guiding me through situations I had to face in person. After this novel, whatever Clancy writes about Clark, Chavez, and Ryan ... makes me feel: this is the only real part of the book. I recommend: ANYone not fimiliar with the Ryan series ... MUST! read this novel before going on to becoming a Ryan series fan, and a Clancy fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Introduction to Clancy! I have never read Tom Clancy before but once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down! I had to keep reading until I finished because I had to know what happened. I can't wait to read the rest of the series and plan to start from the beginning in order to understand everything that Clark has been through. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a few murders!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Without Remorse This was a stunning novel by Clancy. Unfortunatly i've been reading Clancy the wrong way starting with the new and then going back to the old. But I must say that if you like the Clark saga Without Remorse is the book you have to read.It was Way better than Rainbow Six because it answers some questions about his past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On Target Clancy has teased his readers for years, the dark past and secrets that make up Mr. Clark are finally brought to the surface. Intense and facinating, you will not be able to put this book down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from His best human book ever, a must read This must be Tom Clancy's most human book ever. I have read almost all of Tom's books, but this one really gives you the reader an insight into the mind of John Terence Kelly (Clark. You must read this book to feel the mastery of what is clearly Tom Clancy's own literature Catagory.

From the Jacket

Over the course of seven novels, Tom Clancy''s "genius for big, compelling plots" and his "natural narrative gift" (The New York Times Magazine) have mesmerized tens of millions of readers and established him as one of the preeminent storytellers of our time. Without Remorse, however, goes beyond anything he has ever done. Its hero is John Kelly, a man well familiar to Clancy''s readers by his code name, Mr. Clark. In The Sum of All Fears, he hunted down nuclear terrorists. In Clear and Present Danger, he led aerial raids against drug lords. In The Cardinal of the Kremlin, he spirited away a KGB chief''s family by submarine. But nothing will ever be as deadly - or as personal - as the danger he must face in Without Remorse. John Kelly, former Navy SEAL and Vietnam veteran, is still getting over the accidental death of his wife six months before, when he befriends a young woman with a decidedly checkered past. When that past reaches out for her in a particularly horrifying fashion, he vows revenge and, assembling all of his old skills, sets out to track down the men responsible, before it can happen again. At the same time, the Pentagon is readying an operation to rescue a key group of prisoners in a North Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp. One man, they find, knows the terrain around the camp better than anyone else they have: a certain former Navy SEAL named John Kelly. Kelly has his own mission. The Pentagon wants him for theirs. Attempting to juggle the two, Kelly (now code-named Mr. Clark) finds himself confronted by a vast array of enemies, both at home and abroad - men so skillful that the slightest misstep means death. And the fate of dozens of people, including Kelly himself, restson his making sure that misstep never happens. Men aren''t born dangerous. They grow dangerous. And the most dangerous of all, Kelly learns, are the ones you least expect... As Clancy takes us through the twists and turns of Without Remorse, he blends the exceptional realism and authenticity that are his hallmarks with intricate plotting, knife-edge suspense and a remarkable cast of characters.

Thomas L. Clancy, Jr., known to his multitudes of fans as Tom Clancy, was born in 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Loyola College in 1969, became an insurance agent, and in 1973 became the owner of an insurance agency. It was not until 1980 that he started writing military thrillers. Clancy's novels are highly successful, detailed techno-thrillers about espionage, the military and advanced technology. Clancy is so well liked by the military that he has been invited to visit military bases and tour ships. His first bestseller was Red Storm Rising, a fictional military account of a conventionally fought World War 3, published in 1986. His books Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger were so popular they were adapted into major motion pictures. Some other bestsellers by Clancy are The Cardinal of the Kremlin, The Sum of All Fears, and Rainbow Six. Into the Storm: A Study In Command (1997) is part of a nonfiction series cowritten with retired U.S. Army General Fred Franks Jr., commander of the U.S. Army VII Corps, whose job was to defeat Saddam Hussein's Republican Guard during the 89-hour ground war in Desert Storm. Other nonfiction written by Clancy includes Submarine, Armored Cav, Fighter Wing, and Airborne, which describe the workings of military units and their weapons, and Reality Check: What's Going on Out There? Tom Clancy lectures at the FBI, attends meetings at the CIA, and often dines at the White House. He is a member of the U.
