    • As the GM, you are the head of store for an Indigo or Chapters retail location. In addition to being responsible for the financial success of the store, you ensure it is well-run, well-merchandised and well-staffed. You provide critical leadership for team members and customers alike, and develop the overall vision, business planning and sales objectives of the store.
    • The GM’s role is of utmost importance to ensuring Indigo’s life-enriching product lines and their stories are presented with passion and enthusiasm, and that customers are provided a delightful, inspiring experience every time they visit our store.
    What’s The Job?
    • Leading the Customer Experience Representatives and Customer Experience Managers in the delivery of world-class customer service, effective sales techniques, merchandising standards, and store policies and procedures
    • Managing people and processes for results through inspirational leadership driven by your commitment to excellence and your ability to positively influence stakeholders and build lasting relationships based on trust, integrity and respect
    • Attracting, hiring, retaining and developing talented and passionate employees and developing succession plans
    • Maintaining performance management records and ensuring fairness and consistency of approach and administration
    • Being fully accountable to the Regional Manager for the profitability of the store
    • Developing and executing the store’s annual business plan
    • Maximizing sales and profitability by soliciting, identifying and delivering on opportunities for growth
    • Launching and evaluating new programs and initiatives that impact business performance
    • Championing Indigo’s loyalty program and CRM feedback program in support of enriching the customer experience
    • Sharing your passion for Indigo’s unique assortment of books and life-enriching products, and generating excitement about new products, promotions and programs
    • Accepting a high degree of responsibility and accountability for others as well as yourself
    • Connecting with communities by planning and implementing Indigo events with the highest degree of professionalism

    Your Experience
    • A university degree and 3 to 5 years or more of retail leadership experience with demonstrable skills and success in leading and developing others
    • A track record of achieving sales and performance targets in a team environment
    • General merchandising experience
    • Knowledge of Indigo product lines and offerings is an asset
    • Working knowledge of various technology applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, information systems)
