Avatar: The Last Airbender was an incredible series that is 61
episodes long. It aired from February 21, 2005 to July 19, 2008. I
enjoyed watching Avatar and looked foreward to watching it all the
time. This series was so different from many others that I have
watched.
Avatar takes place in another world, which is inhabited by humans,
supernatural spirits, and fictional animals. The human civilization
is divided into four nations: there is the Water Tribe, the Earth
Kingdom, the Air Nomads, and the Fire Nation. In each nation there
exists people with special abilities, called "benders" that can
manipulate the element of their nation. There are Waterbenders,
Earthbenders, Firebenders, and Airbenders.
In each generation, one person is born that is capable of bending
all four elements; that person is referred to as the Avatar, which
is the spirit of the planet in human form. When an Avatar dies,
then another is reincarnated.
Aang is the Avatar in this series, he is an Airbender, and his
mission is to protect the world. Aang is frozen in an iceberg, and
is found a hundred years later (so he is now 112 years old) by two
children from the Southern Water Tribe, Katara and Sokka. The Fire
Nation is trying to control the world, such as by eliminating
tribes. Aang must stop them before a comet arrives, which makes the
Firebenders' powers incredibly strong that they can destroy
anything. In order to defeat the Fire Lord Ozai, Aang must master
all four elements, and on the way he meets many interesting people,
and learns a lot about himself.
People of all ages will enjoy this exciting series, full of action
and fantasy.
