Blood Diamond, this movie is awsome, and very underrated. But beside the movie in the movie is the message that comes with it. If you are not moved by what you are watching, check your pulse. It's like Saving Private Ryan, in a way. It really makes you think at what going on in Africa like Ryan makes you think of war. Leonardo DiCaprio is incredable in this movie. His accent is impecable and was robbed of the Oscar. Because it was released the same year as "The Departed" it got overshadowed for DiCaprio. See This Movie, and then think about what you just watched. You'll never be the same.

I found this movie to be an eye opener on how greedy some individuals are. I had never given much thought to where and how diamonds were gathered.

    Blood diamond
This movie is a real view of Hollywood about one of the biggest problems in Africa. "Blood diamond" shamed the African continent feeding the civil war there, especially in countries such as Angola, Liberia, Congo and Uganda.
As far as I know the Apartheid Regime of South Africa and the western diamond dealers from black market deeply increased the conflict.
The movie is showing an African traditional family that is fighting day by day for a better future. As is in all traditional African families their hopes are based in their sons. It is the real reason to survive. For them, they do all the sacrifices (work hard, fight or even die) because they believe that it is the last chance to keep alive their dreams for a better future.
Corruption and bad management of the natural resources is seen in this movie. Instead of using the natural riches for development of community, the man of war in Africa are using to accumulate more power and increase their personal fortune, increasing the misery and poverty of their natives.
This movie is a moment of revelation about recent African history. We still see similar situations in current days.
Very good movie, you must watch.
