Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Starring: Chen Chang, Chow Yun Fat, Michelle Khan
Director: Ang Lee

Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment | May 4, 2004 | DVD

A pair of martial arts masters and would-be lovers, an independent young woman with a dark secret, and the search for a stolen mystical sword all come together in director Ang Lee's visually stunning, gravity-defying mix of kung fu action and feminist-slanted melodrama, set in 19th-century China.

    Masterpeice.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is a hauntingly beautiful masterpeice. The story, the acting, its just....Amazing. I could say that it is a story of doomed, tragic love. Of betrayal and consequence. Of a longing for freedom so deep that it destroys. A film of exciting but graceful action scenes. But the truth is, its so much more than that, so much deeper.

Ang Lee has a talent at capturing the most delicate moments and squeezing every bit of emotion out of it as possible. Sometimes the best love stories are the ones where love is denied. The characters are denied what they most desire because of tradition, circumstance, or by sheer rebelliousness. The fight scenes capture the emotions of each character perfectly. A great precursor to Lee's opus - you know the one.

Brilliant movie!! Brings martial arts and fantasy to the big screen like no other. Acting is incredible. Suggest watching in mandarin with english subtitles. Unbalievable performance by Chow Yun Fat!!!
