One of the most popular movies of all time, Steven Spielberg’s E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL tells the touching and often comical story of an alien creature, E.T., who is accidentally left behind on Earth. Elliott (Henry Thomas), a young boy from a single-parent home, befriends E.T. and tries to protect him from the adult world of NASA scientists who want to "examine" the alien. With the help of his younger sister, Gertie (Drew Barrymore), and his older brother, Michael (Robert McNaugton), Elliott helps E.T. try to get back to his home.

    Rediscovering E.T

This is a cute movie and this movie brings me back to my childhood because the first time I saw E.T I was a kid and it was at my cousin's house in Boston during the late 80's or maybe early 90's. Anyway... I'm not going to dwell on my childhood memories because I don't want to bore my audience so I prefer to immediately share with you my opinion about this movie! First of all I judge that this movie contains charming elements and other details give the impression that this movie have a lack of explanation. Let’s start with the charming part: The fact that E.T have influence over the element of the nature (for example: the pot of flower who flourish when E.T was healthy and start to become dry when E.T was sick) and also the friendly relationship that E.T started to have with the little boy (the hero of the movie) and is family members was very cute those detail gives an enchanted and magical appearance to the movie, just like the kind of mythical event that we can see in Walt Disney movies. But unfortunately, the issue in the movie E.T is the lack of explanation. They never explain why E.T have to come on planet Earth and what was is mission when he came here. E.T’s spacecraft landed in a forest somewhere I guess… near a California suburb and then the story starts. Secondly E.T was not capable to stay on Earth for too long or E.T would be dead. You are going to tell me that an intelligent race from another planet would be interested to put their feet on a planet where they can’t even live? What would be the purpose of their discovery or their conquest? For the people who love realistic details in the movies because those details help the spectators to believe in what they are seeing when they watch a movies, the questions and notifications mentioned earlier are important factors for the success of a movie. That’s my only issue with E.T after that I have nothing to complain about.
