I have to admit that in this instance I will break my cardinal rule and say this is one of my favourite movies. It is a well written book, made into a well made movie. The characters draw you in, they make you laugh and cheer; they suck you into the story never really letting you go. This is one movie that I have loved since the first time I saw it, and each time I watch it, I love it more.

Howl's Moving Castle is based on a novel by Diana Wynne Jones and is directed by the famous Hayao Miyazaki. Its genre is adventure, fantasy, and romance. The storyline is very unique and the characters are very likable. Watching the castle moving was so interesting, because it is made up of so many different objects that are brought together by magic.

It is a remarkable movie with amazing animation that everyone will enjoy. It is one of my most favourite movies, so I highly recommend it. It is also in English, which is even better for those who do not understand any other language.

Sophie, the protagonist, is a teenage girl that makes hats for a living, since her family owns a hat shop. One day, an evil witch transforms her into an elderly woman. Thus, Sophie runs away from home, since she is unable to face her family in such a condition, and searches for a way to transform back to her former self.

On her journey, Sophie helps a magical scarecrow, who then repays her by leading her to the moving castle owned by a wizard named Howl. Sophie becomes the cleaning lady of the castle to find a way to fix her problem, and to save Howl from his terrible secrets. Will Sophie ever return to her former self? Will Sophie ever return home? What are Howl's terrible secrets?

Hayao Miyazaki is my favorite director, and his films just get better and better. Howls moving castle is a film that shows us just how important a heart is, to love and live. Howl is a wizard operating under various Alias's, and when he's called to war, he's in no way courageous. He lives with a small boy and a fire daemon inside his moving 'castle', and is rumoured to eat the hearts of beautiful girls. When Sophie, under a witches curse, ends up traveling with them, you begin to notice the change in Howl, and in Sophie. If ever you want to give Anime a try, I would definitely recommend this movie, and I do, now that I've finally had a chance to watch it. some other titles by Hayao Miyazaki are: PRINCESS MONONOKE; CASTLE IN THE SKY; KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE; NAUSICAA OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND
