British Comedy at it's best

In Bruges has the right mix of comedy and drama thrown into it. Looking at it straight, it is a comedy. There are not many scene's where the director tries to make to audience laugh, but watching more closely, and there are scene's where you will laugh you head off. I know I did. Colin Farrell gives a brilliant comedic performance, with one of my favourite quotes from 2008. "They're filming midgets" You have to see it in context, it is hilarious. Brendan Gleeson is also great as well, with Ralph Fiennes. Overall, it is a great movie that will make you laugh, even though it might not being trying to.
The best in Dark Comedy

First timer Writer/Director Martin McDonagh delivers the goods and more. The film revolves around two hitmen who come to Bruges after a hit in London and await further instructions from their boss. With a plot so basic, one doesn't expect what happens in this relatively short film to include so many different comedic and dark elements so elequently put together. Great acting by Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes combines with a good story to make this an altogether awesome film, however what makes this special is the dialogues between the characters. Don't go in expecting your usual Hollywood-action-packed film for audiences with a short attention span. This film is directed at a more intellectual audience who can read in-between the infinite undertones the director wonderfully included. For anyone who likes this style of film, make sure to check out the director's short film with Brendan Gleeson called "Six Shooter."
You can't sell horse tranquilizers to a midget!

I couldn't get into this film at all even though it looked entertaining from the trailer. Despite some dark comedic moments back and forth between characters, the rest of the movie dragged on. Just when you think something interesting may happen, nothing ever does until the very end. By that time, I was more than happy to see the credits rolling.
