A pair of martial arts masters and would-be lovers, an independent young woman with a dark secret, and the search for a stolen mystical sword all come together in director Ang Lee's visually stunning, gravity-defying mix of kung fu action and feminist-slanted melodrama, set in 19th-century China.

This is the first movie designed to propel Jackie Chan into the pantheon of martial arts gods, and is a direct sequel to Bruce Lee's The Chinese Connection. Chan plays a street thief who, along with his sister, ends up joining a group of rebels battling the Japanese army in Second World War Taiwan. After their beloved master dies as the hands of a corrupt kung fu expert, Chan's character goes into training overdrive and uses his fists for justice. New Fist of Fury features some decent fight scenes and a very young Jackie. This DVD edition contains movie factoids and an interview with Chan.
