Mr. Dressup-Treasure

Starring: Mr. Dressup

Morningstar Entertainment | July 14, 2009 | DVD

From the Studio:

Ernie Coombs (a.k.a. Mr. Dressup) was a staple of CBC's morning schedule for an incredible 32 years. Along with TV pals Casey and Finnegan, the kindly Mr. Dressup entertained generations of Canadian children with simple crafts, sing-alongs and trips to the "tickle trunk" for costumes.

Upon receiving yet another prestigious award, Mr. Coombs passed on a few words of advice: "Keep an open mind, and an open heart. Don't take life too seriously -- it doesn't last forever, you know. And may I remind you for the last time -- keep your crayons sharp, your sticky tape untangled, and always put the top back on your markers!"

Join hosts Casey and Finnegan in this special DVD collection as they revisit carefree childhood memories of Mr. Dressup, and they romp again through those special days with songs, stories, crafts, dressing up, acting out their own stories, and Mr. Dressup's drawings at his famous drawing board.

I loved this show as a kid and wanted to introduce Mr. Dressup to my daughters. This show is creative and fun with stories, activities and songs. How could anyone not appreciate Ernie Coombs' drawing talents? The best part of this show is that it's quiet - no fancy splash screens, sounds or special effects. Just a man, a couple of puppets, a big heart and an even bigger imagination.

You just took me down memory lane. I used to watch him all the time on CBC. The shows on today aren't the same.
