    Fantastic

The amount of time, money, and thought that has gone into making this film shines through the screen every time I watch it. This series shows the true awe of the world we live in. All seven continents are beautifully captured and made me feel like I was discovering them for the first time. The special features show how the film makers’ often spending hours and even days capturing just one single event and the payoff is incredible. Some of the sights that are captured would be near impossible to see on your own. Every time I watch any of the episodes, I am always impressed. The delicate, untouched habitats that are brought to life and the raw power that some of the creatures hold shows a contrast like none I have seen before. I would recommend this film to anyone who is even remotely interested in nature and experiencing the diversity and true beauty of a world that I have never seen before.

    Good movie
    by Yulia Vitovtova

Good movie, something that we have never seen before, especially good movie for children secondary and high school level. There is a lot of repetition from one disk to another. Instead of doing five disks it’ll be enough two for example, and do a separate disk about how movie was created. In whole good, but each disk to short, we only start to watch and it was finished very fast. There is not a thread, small chards of different stories.

If your buying a HD player this series and "Wild China" are a must, this is the most spectacular and moving visual I have ever seen on our planet. The HD version adds 50% more enjoyment. Does Chapters have the entire box set of the 4 series? Which is released by Warner Video

A beautiful documentary about different places all over the world. A must see! Every 'episode' is just as good as the last, with beautiful music, and amazing scenes that will blow you away. Planet Earth brings to you images of wildlife and parts of the world you will potentially never see yourself, and it is a great opportunity to learn more about the world. Good for all ages, this is highly entertaining, and not another "boring documentary" that so many of these types of videos are. Also see the Blue Planet - also amazing! Expensive, but worth the money, especially if you will be watching these over again like I have done.

    Disappointing
    by Keith King

Because in most sections of all DVDs the audio commentary ia almost drowned out by the background music. I had to turn up the volume so much it was almost painful. Maybe I should try closed captioning. Both my wife and I had the same difficulty. We are not deaf!! Otherwise I agree the photography is excellent.

This set is amazing and the sound is impressive. Try adjusting your surround sound. Or Using the dvd settings use the Stereo sound track if you don't have DTS Dolby Digital.

I have to disagree, maybe it is because I am young but had no problem with the sound. Although I was watching some episodes with someone who is in their 40's and they also said that the music was quite loud and the narration was quiet.

Dude, I've had your problem before and it's not the discs. Check your hardware. It was an old DVD player for me. My problem with audio was gone when I switched player. Check cables. Clean the head. Try another player. It's not the discs.

    The ultimate in wildlife photography!
    by J K

This collection has very rare footage of wildlife and nature from around the world that has never been filmed before, primarily because of the difficulty in capturing the content on film. (And so to me, this video is worth way more than what it is selling for.) However, I recommend this only for a true nature and wildlife enthusiast, not for the faint-hearted who may tend to view natural hunting scenes as otherwise. Planet Earth is the ultimate collection of wildlife and nature photography!!!

Planet Earth is a breathtaking journey spanning the globe. Each episode focuses on a type of environment, from mountains to deserts to jungles. I appreciated this approach as opposed to dividing the series into a look at continent, for example. It pulled the world together. You will be left with a sense of wonder and awe. Some of the fauna and flora are so strange and incredible, that one can only take one's hat off to nature's creativity and ingenuity. This is a perfect marriage of eye candy and brain food.

    A Must Have
    by Dusty

I bought this DVD collection with great expectations and it surpassed them. It covers so much. I think it's great for giving a little information about much of our planet and sparking interest in smaller subjects which can be researched in more detail. The shots that were taken in this set are amazing and you can't help but place another DVD in the player once one disk has finished. I would recomment it to anyone interested in nature and wildlife.

If you have ever been captivated by a nature documentary you have seen on T.V. then this is the DVD for you. It covers every apsect of Planet Earth imaginable and then some. I started watching it and couldn't stop. If you only own one BBC documentary, it should be this one.

    So good it's bittersweet
    by Erik Buisson

This series is simply a work of art. The combination of exquisite cinematography and humbling narration create a deeply moving experience... but at the same time a bittersweet one when you think about how humans are messing things up. I always thought I was "eco-concious" but I have seen and learnt so much about our planet that I would have otherwise remained ignorant about. The intricate inter-dependancies between global ecosystems is mindboggling. This series should almost be mandatory viewing in school systems around the globe not only to educate the younger generation but to inspire them to save what's left.

    Every household should own this

The cinematography is incredible, the education is essential. This is a great DVD series to watch and re-watch. Not only does it teach the history of the planet we live on, and the future was are preparing our children for, the visual appeal is incredible. It's great to just turn on in the background while doing other things, you look up and gasp. I've even been to spinning classes at a facility that runs movies on a big screen to motivate riders and they use this DVD.

It brings education and motion picture together in a way that nobody has ever done before. Also David Attenborough's voice is so moving you would think that god was narrating haha. I would be surprised if anbody didn't like these DVD's.

    Phenomenal

As soon as I saw this DVD set I knew I had to have it. Every time I watch one of the DVD's I sit in stunned amazement at the incredible footage. Planet Earth offers anyone the opportunity to travel the globe and observe things that most humans couldn't have even dreamt of. I also enjoy tremedously the clips after each film that demonstrate how the footage was collected and how dedicated the naturalists are that were involved in the creation of this masterpiece. Every inhabitant of Planet Earth should see these films. I gave several copies away at Christmas.

this was a way to see the world like never seen before. the amazing scenes and overall video clips were fantastic. it was extraordinary to be able to see the world in such a natural light, it was as if we were looking through the eyes of the beholder, as if we were standing there watching these for ourselves. the animals and the unbelievable footage of unknown creatures and alien places to mankind are mind boggling to see. planet earth has cast a light on the world to become more aware of the precious precious gifts we have waiting to be opened all around us. i recommend this 110%, if you havent seen it, buy it, rent it, do anything, but make sure you watch this with your family, it is truly an unbelievable documentary, something you will never ever forget.

This set of DVD's is absolutely fantastic. The photography is excellent and well worth the price. As an added bonus, I found that although the packaging stated "No closed captioning", this is in fact, included. With my hearing problem, I didn't have to miss a word. Watching these DVD's is not only very informative, but also very relaxing to watch. I highly recommend this series, and look forward to seeing more like it.
