Snow Day

Starring: Chris Elliott, Mark Webber, Jean Smart, Chevy Chase
Director: Chris Koch

Paramount Home Video | February 14, 2012 | DVD

If there's one thing the kids in a Nickelodeon picture know how to do it's have fun… and throw snowballs. Snow Day is about a bunch of kids living it up when a nighttime blizzard blankets the ground with snow and they all get the day off. That is, until the nasty, pasty and dastardly snowplow man - played with convincingly slimy glee by Chris Elliot - shows up to put a stop to  their fun. It's up to the kids to halt the snow-busting freak in his tracks, having loads of fun and even finding time for a little innocent teenage romance along the way. Chevy Chase is also very funny as the outlandish meteorologist dad.

    Entertaining

Whilst churning out a well-worn theme of slightly geeky kid chasing popular cheerleader-type this film has moments in that makes it good viewing for all ages. Laughs for the younger generation; cheese, trickery and two-faced nastiness for the teenagers; and the wistful beauty of winter for those of us who only admit to being older than that. I wouldn't say this was an Oscar worthy film but I would definitely say it has good entertainment value. Watch this and you'll almost certainly be praying for snow tomorrow !

This was an amazingly cool film, good for all ages, including adults who regress at the sight of snow. For all snow fans and non-fans this film packs a punch. The kids of this local town decide to take on the snow plough guy to make their snow day stretch from one day to two or more. Throw in the extra spice of a teenage romance blossoming between the shy brother of the heroine and the school babe, with some inventive techniques of attention-grabbing.
The story might sound familiar but is definitely worth the price of a second watch. Buy it, rent it, you've got to see it !
